Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • experience in hotel operations or customer service preferred
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to work productively with a team
  • ability to multitask effectively
  • composure and patience under pressure
  • knowledge of P.O.S. systems
  • valid TABC certification
  • valid food handler's certificate

Job Duties

  • Contribute positively to the team within the department
  • prepare for any and all guest requests
  • participate in on-going training
  • comply with Valencia Hotel Group and its affiliates standards and regulations
  • maintain regular attendance in compliance with scheduling requirements
  • complete other duties as assigned by supervisor
  • maintain knowledge of table, seat, station numbers, room capacity, hours, and dress code
  • maintain knowledge of departmental policies and service procedures
  • maintain knowledge of all liquor brands, beers, non-alcoholic selections, glassware, and garnishes
  • maintain knowledge of menu items, prices, preparation methods, ingredients, and quality standards
  • comply with state liquor regulations
  • organize assigned stations prior to guest arrival
  • greet guests and suggest beverage orders using upselling techniques
  • relay daily specials and menu information
  • take guests' orders and record following service standards
  • input orders into system and verify transmission
  • work closely with kitchen team on service and timing
  • monitor and anticipate guest needs
  • maintain positive guest relations
  • handle guest complaints
  • total all charges and process checks according to procedure
  • adhere to payment and cash handling policies
  • assist food runners
  • attend meetings and training sessions
  • assist with side work or additional prep work
