We are currently seeking experienced candidates to join our culinary team at Sheraton. This role is perfect for individuals with a previous background in restaurant line cooking, food preparation, or sous chef duties who are eager to contribute their skills in a fast-paced, team-oriented kitchen setting. The position involves preparing food items to consistent quality standards, ensuring the uniformity of portion sizes and presentations, and supporting overall kitchen operations to maximize dining room and room service revenue.
A key part of the role includes following recipe cards and production standards precisely, managing food storage practices according to Sheraton Hotel standards, and maintaining appropriate food safety protocols such as temperature controls and labeling. Candidates will be responsible for food prep, overseeing inventory needs for each shift, assisting with buffet stocking if applicable, and controlling costs by addressing waste, losses, and usage effectively.
This position demands a self-starting personality, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative attitude that embraces team support and multitasking in the kitchen environment. The ability to safely operate various kitchen equipment such as deep fryers, broilers, stoves, steamers, food processors, mixers, slicers, ovens, steam tables, tilt kettles, waffle irons, and flat-top grills is essential. Attention to cleanliness and proper maintenance of these tools is also a critical responsibility.
Additionally, candidates should be open to continuous learning and professional development, with opportunities for advancement within the kitchen team at Sheraton. Job Requirements
- Valid Oregon Food Handlers Card upon hire
- Previous experience in a restaurant kitchen line, prep, or sous chef role
- Ability to lift and move goods weighing up to 100 pounds continuously
- Finger/hand dexterity required for operating food machinery
- Willingness to comply with attendance and punctuality rules
- Commitment to maintaining professional appearance and manner
- Ability to communicate well with guests
- Team-oriented with willingness to assist co-workers
- Ability to adhere to food safety and sanitation standards

Job Duties
- Maximizing potential dining room and room service revenue through quality, uniformity, portion size and presentation of all food products
- Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards, per check from servers
- Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to over-prepare estimated needs
- Date all food containers and rotate as per Sheraton Hotel standards, making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures
- Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set-up
- Note any out-of-stock items or possible shortages
- Assist in keeping buffet stocked, if applicable
- Return all food items not used on next shift to designated storage areas, being sure to cover and date all perishables
- Assist in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems, and control food waste, loss and usage per Sheraton Hotel standards
- Support all kitchen, banquet, and room service staff
- Operate, maintain and properly clean deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron and flat top grill
- Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis
- Perform any other job-related duties as assigned
