Job Description
Jacks Monterey is a distinguished dining establishment known for its commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences through outstanding hospitality and impeccable service. As a renowned restaurant located in a vibrant hospitality setting, Jacks Monterey prides itself on creating a warm and inviting atmosphere where every guest feels welcomed and valued. The establishment has built a reputation for excellence in customer service, quality food and beverage offerings, and a team-oriented working environment that fosters collaboration and professional growth. The restaurant operates with a focus on maintaining high standards, ensuring that each visit leaves a lasting positive impression on its patrons. Employment at Jacks Monterey offers the opportunity to be part of a dynamic team dedicated to hospitality excellence and guest satisfaction.
The role of a Greeter at Jacks Monterey is pivotal in shaping the initial dining experience for guests. This position involves more than just welcoming patrons; it requires a genuine passion for customer service, ensuring that every individual who walks through the door feels personally acknowledged and appreciated. Greeters manage guest seating efficiently, coordinate waitlists during peak times, and actively engage with guests while they wait, are seated, or depart. The role demands thorough knowledge of seating arrangements, reservation schedules, and communication with serving staff to maintain an even distribution of guests across server sections. Greeters also take on responsibilities such as updating the OpenTable system, answering phone calls promptly with professional etiquette, and effectively handling guest concerns by liaising with management when necessary.
Working hours typically begin in the mid-afternoon, starting at 3 PM until closing, with 3 to 4 shifts scheduled per week, allowing for a balance between work and personal time. The position is ideal for individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments and enjoy interacting with diverse groups of people. Additionally, successful candidates possess strong interpersonal skills, a friendly and approachable demeanor, and a dedicated customer-first mentality. They are team players who contribute positively to the restaurant's culture and maintain professionalism at all times.
The Greeter role also requires complete familiarity with the menu, wine list, current promotions, and concierge services associated with the restaurant and hotel, allowing them to provide detailed information and recommendations to guests confidently. These comprehensive duties ensure that the Greeter is a key contributor to smooth restaurant operations and overall guest satisfaction. Candidates are expected to comply with company standards of conduct and demonstrate attentiveness, problem-solving capabilities, and excellent communication skills. Flexibility in scheduling is essential, with the workweek likely encompassing evenings, weekends, and holidays to align with the restaurant's operational needs.
This position demands an educational background of at least a high school diploma or equivalent, alongside California Food Handlers or ServSafe Certification, and an approved state certification for alcohol management. Previous experience in the restaurant or hospitality industry, even for as little as six months, is required to ensure familiarity with customer service dynamics and fast-paced settings. The ideal Greeter is energetic, personable, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute to an environment where hospitality excellence is the priority. In return, Jacks Monterey offers a supportive atmosphere where staff members are encouraged to grow their skills and enjoy rewarding careers in the food and beverage service industry.
