The role of the PM Front Desk Agent at Sonesta International Hotels is a critical position that supports the company’s mission and overall hotel success. Working the evening shift, the PM Front Desk Agent acts as the main point of contact for guests during these hours and ensures smooth operation at the front desk using advanced technology systems. This role carries a significant responsibility in setting the tone for a guest’s experience as the first face they encounter when entering the hotel. The position requires delivering on Sonesta’s signature G.U.E.S.T. standards—ensuring guests receive warm, efficient, and attentive service at all times.

The PM Front Desk Agent manages the registration and check-in process, handles transactions including cash and credit card processing, and ensures all guest inquiries are answered promptly and courteously. The agent must maintain strict security protocols surrounding guest information and monetary transactions to safeguard privacy and hotel assets. Additionally, the role includes booking guest reservations for individuals and groups, managing cancellations and revisions, and promoting up-selling techniques to maximize hotel revenue. Collaborating closely with other shifts and departments, the PM Front Desk Agent facilitates seamless communication and teamwork to maintain high-quality service standards.

Beyond typical front desk duties, the PM Front Desk Agent also supports hotel operations related to in-house guest services, including managing safe-deposit boxes and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, especially concerning alcohol service in the hotel's dining areas. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • one year of previous hotel experience or retail customer service preferred
  • previous experience in a full-service hotel is strongly preferred
  • ability to speak, read, and write fluent English
  • professional verbal and written communication skills needed
  • mathematical skills including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances preferred
  • problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities preferred
  • experience with Microsoft Office and Opera systems preferred
  • must obtain ServSafe certification
  • may be required to obtain TIPS certification
  • valid driver's license required
  • frequently stand, bend, climb, kneel, and move about the facility
  • able to carry, lift or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • frequently handle objects and equipment
  • stand for extended periods of time
  • must work PM/evening shift, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Deliver on the promise of Sonesta Service in all interactions with guests and clients according to the Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards
  • register guests, issue room keys, and provide information on hotel services and room location
  • answer phones in a prompt and courteous manner
  • accurately process all cash and credit card transactions in accordance with established procedures including posting all charges, completing cashier and other reports, preparing deposit, and counting/securing assigned bank
  • maintain the security of cash, credit card transactions, and guest information
  • routinely book guest reservations for individuals and/or groups, process cancellations, revisions, and information updates on changes, and up-sell rooms where possible to maximize revenue
  • follow the overall seasonal demand reservation strategy as communicated by hotel management regarding room type and length of stay pricing
  • promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other shifts and departmental management
  • service the shoppe and the pour by ensuring guests receive the service and products offered by the hotel and follow all local laws regarding alcoholic beverage sales
  • ensure guest special requests are fulfilled and proper delivery of guest services is delivered
  • issue, control and release guest safe-deposit boxes
  • comply with federal, state, and local laws regarding health, safety, and alcohol services
  • perform other duties as assigned
