Job Description

Walt Disney Imagineering is the creative force behind the magic of Disney theme parks, resorts, attractions, and cruise ships around the world. It integrates a wide range of disciplines from creative storytelling and artistic design to scientific research and technological innovation, crafting immersive and memorable experiences that delight families globally. Known for its first-of-its-kind approaches and pioneering spirit, Walt Disney Imagineering consistently pushes the boundaries of technology and creativity, continually setting new standards of innovation in the theme park and entertainment industry. This makes Imagineering a unique and inspiring workplace where the contributions of each employee can have a lasting impact on guests and communities worldwide. The Imagineering team’s diversity in expertise allows for transformative contributions that foster positive change across the globe, energizing and inspiring those involved in these exciting projects.

The Walt Disney Imagineering Tech Studio is currently seeking a highly skilled and proactive Server Engineer to join their Infrastructure and Platform Engineering team. This full-time role will report to the Senior Manager of Platform Engineering and plays a critical role in supporting management and compliance needs related to server infrastructure. The Server Engineer will be responsible for the deployment, maintenance, and monitoring of physical and virtual server infrastructures, focusing on ensuring that the organization’s information assets remain secure and compliant with relevant regulations and standards. This includes working on Windows and Linux environments specifically tailored to support rendering, content creation, and production workflows that are essential to Disney's creative and technical endeavors.

In this role, the engineer will have the opportunity to manage high-availability platforms, including server, storage, and networking components with advanced features such as storage tiering and lifecycle management. They will also design and implement secure infrastructure architectures, including network segmentation and access controls that are crucial for a hybrid production and enterprise environment. Automation is a key element of the job, using Python and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation to automate deployments, configurations, and validate system statuses efficiently. Additionally, building and managing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins will be essential to improve deployment consistency and lifecycle management.

Security operations form a significant portion of this position’s duties. The Server Engineer will monitor infrastructure using observability and monitoring platforms such as Datadog, Grafana, Splunk, or Prometheus to detect performance issues, operational risks, and security threats early. Running vulnerability scans, managing risk assessments, coordinating remediation efforts, supporting incident response, and operating security tools like firewalls and endpoint protection solutions will all be part of daily responsibilities. In addition, supporting compliance activities aligned with frameworks such as Zero Trust, NIST CSF, and NIST RMF is essential, with a focus on preparing artifacts, tracking controls, and closing identified gaps.

Collaboration and reporting are integral to the role, requiring close cooperation with cross-functional teams in engineering, operations, and security to design scalable and secure infrastructure solutions. The Server Engineer will also prepare detailed operational and security reports, manage ongoing security and compliance initiatives, mentor other engineers, and stay up to date with the latest technology trends relevant to production and content-creation environments.

The position offers a competitive salary range of $155,700.00 to $208,700.00 per year based in Glendale, CA, with potential bonuses and long-term incentives, alongside an excellent benefits package. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong technical background who are passionate about secure, scalable infrastructure and want to contribute to the innovative legacy of Walt Disney Imagineering.
