Job Description

CSL Plasma is part of CSL, a leading global biopharmaceutical company headquartered in Melbourne, Australia, that operates one of the world's largest and most sophisticated plasma collection networks. With nearly 330 donation centers across the United States and Europe, CSL Plasma plays a critical role in collecting plasma used for manufacturing life-saving plasma-derived therapies for patients in more than 100 countries. As a subsidiary of CSL, a company that employs more than 29,000 people worldwide, CSL Plasma is dedicated to excellence in plasma donation, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and donor care.

The company’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and belonging is fundamental to its mission and workplace culture, fostering an environment where innovation thrives and employees feel valued and connected. CSL Plasma is also known for its focus on employee well-being and providing competitive benefits, making it an attractive place to work within the plasma operations sector.

This part-time role is based in San Luis, Arizona, within the Plasma Operations department, specifically supporting Plasma Center Operations. The position reports directly to the Assistant Center Manager and focuses on the safe, accurate, and timely handling of plasma samples and plasma units collected from donors. The Plasma Sample Technician is responsible for multiple critical activities that help maintain plasma quality and integrity throughout the donation process.

In this role, you will be expected to comply with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure that plasma units are accurately labeled, properly stored, and effectively prepared for shipping. This includes tasks such as collecting plasma samples using sterile techniques, moving plasma units to freezers for temperature-controlled storage, packaging samples for shipment, and monitoring freezer and refrigerator temperatures to safeguard the plasma’s viability. The role requires an individual with strong attention to detail to verify labeling accuracy and keep meticulous records within the electronic donor information management system.

Because plasma handling involves sensitive biological materials, the position demands adherence to stringent health, safety, and environmental policies, including OSHA standards, to promote a safe workplace for employees and donors alike. The technician is also required to maintain confidentiality of donor and center information, and may be cross-trained in other functions to support business needs. Some bilingual skills may be required depending on organizational needs.

Working conditions of this role include performing repetitive manual tasks, frequently standing and walking, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. The environment is fast-paced and requires the ability to manage interruptions while using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when handling hazardous chemicals, blood-borne pathogens, and temperature-sensitive plasma units. This position may require overtime or extended hours to support operational demands.

This role is ideal for candidates with at least a high school diploma or equivalent, and some prior experience working in a laboratory or warehouse environment is preferred. The ability to perform basic math calculations and follow oral and written instructions accurately is essential. Employees play a key part in maintaining a clean and efficient work environment with adequate supplies and documentation to ensure smooth plasma operations.

By joining CSL Plasma, you become part of an organization that is instrumental in contributing to global health through plasma donation. You will be engaged in meaningful work that supports the production of therapies that improve and save lives worldwide, all while growing your career within a supportive and inclusive company culture.
