Job Description
BioLife Plasma Services, a subsidiary of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Ltd., is a leader in the biopharmaceutical industry focused on the collection of high-quality human plasma, which is essential for the development of life-saving therapies for patients with rare and serious diseases. With a strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer service, BioLife operates multiple plasma donation centers across the United States, providing donors with a positive and rewarding donation experience. Known for fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment, BioLife empowers its employees with opportunities for career growth, comprehensive benefits, and the chance to make a meaningful impact on patient lives worldwide.
The role of Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife Plasma Services is a critical position that supports plasma center operations under the guidance of the Plasma Center Manager and Center Physician. This full-time role is based in Douglasville, GA, and offers an hourly wage range of $24.32 to $33.44, dependent on qualifications and experience. The Medical Support Specialist ensures donor eligibility, manages donor adverse events, reviews laboratory test results, and notifies donors of unsuitable test results. The specialist is instrumental in maintaining compliance with FDA and industry regulations while providing medical support at the center level with a focus on environmental, health, and safety standards.
Daily responsibilities include performing medical history interviews, physical examinations, serological testing, and managing informed consent and AIDS education. The specialist evaluates donor reactions, coordinates medical emergencies according to standard operating procedures, and communicates with the Center Physician or Medical Affairs on complex medical issues to ensure donor safety and eligibility. In addition, this position involves supporting employee vaccination programs, managing workplace incidents, and potentially acting as a Pandemic Coordinator to respond to health threats in the community.
BioLife’s Medical Support Specialists bring empathy, strong clinical skills, and a dedication to helping donors who contribute to life-saving plasma therapies. The role requires current licensure as an LPN or LVN, certification in CPR and AED, and completion of FDA-approved medical specialist training. Working at BioLife offers not only the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, friendly environment but also provides a meaningful purpose—helping patients through plasma donations while growing professionally within a global healthcare leader committed to innovation, excellence, and diversity.
