Located in San Antonio, Texas, the Calaveras Power Generation facility is a critical component of CPS Energy’s generation portfolio. The company focuses on the operation and maintenance of Combined Cycle Power Plants, Peaking Gas Turbine Plants, and Conventional Plants to ensure uninterrupted, high-quality power supply. As part of their continuous effort to improve performance and operational efficiency, CPS Energy is looking for a dedicated and experienced Plant Technical Support Manager to join their team at the Calaveras location.

The Plant Technical Support Manager at CPS Energy is a leadership role responsible for providing specialized technical support related to Combustion Turbine (CT), Gas Turbine (GT), and Steam Turbine (ST) systems. This position supports both operations and maintenance teams to safeguard the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the power plants. The role involves technical oversight, planning, directing, and coordinating tasks related to turbine performance, all while optimizing equipment, materials, processes, and procedures for peak efficiency.

As a key contributor in strategic planning, the Plant Technical Support Manager aids in achieving operational and maintenance objectives by delivering expert CT/GT/ST technical information, developing actionable plans, resolving complex problems, conducting audits, identifying trends, and implementing improvements. This position is not only technical but also managerial, involving budget development and oversight related to turbine expenses, and supervision of operations and maintenance personnel.

Key responsibilities include recommending equipment conversions, upgrades, and modifications to enhance plant performance, coordinating projects to improve efficiency, supporting outage inspections, monitoring technical bulletins, generating maintenance plans, and ensuring optimal resource utilization to maximize power generation and revenue. Moreover, the manager plays a pivotal role in employee health and safety initiatives, contributing to the company’s zero accident/incident rate goal.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience, particularly with Gas Turbine technology. Experience with 7FA combustion turbines, LM6000 aeroderivative gas turbines, and training from OEMs such as GE, Siemens, Westinghouse, or ABB is highly preferred. Strong leadership skills, technical expertise, analytical thinking, and the ability to communicate effectively across departmental lines are essential attributes.

Working in both indoor and outdoor environments, candidates must be prepared for non-standard work hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, and must hold a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
