The Power Generation division at the Calaveras location in San Antonio, Texas, is currently seeking an experienced and highly skilled Plant Technical Support Manager. This full-time position falls under pay grade 17 and offers a career opportunity to lead technical support efforts for combustion turbine, gas turbine, and steam turbine operations and maintenance. The primary responsibilities for this role focus on delivering safe, reliable, and efficient operations within CPS Energy’s generation fleet. The role centers on providing technical oversight, strategic planning, and coordination of turbine-related tasks, while optimizing the use of equipment, materials, and operational processes.

As Plant Technical Support Manager, the incumbent will contribute significant technical expertise to support operations and maintenance teams, preparing action plans, implementing productivity enhancements, conducting audits, tracking operational trends, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Managing plant budgets related to turbine operations and maintenance expenses is also a key component of this role. The successful candidate will supervise a team responsible for overseeing projects and managing performance activities within combined cycle plants, gas turbine peaking units, and conventional power plants.

Ideal candidates must demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of turbine technologies specifically related to combustion, gas, and steam turbines, including experience with 7FA combustion turbines, LM6000 aeroderivative gas turbines, and equipment from prominent OEMs such as GE, Siemens, Westinghouse, and ABB. A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering with advanced experience or equivalent knowledge is required. Preferred qualifications include Professional Engineer registration in the State of Texas and direct experience operating and maintaining power generation equipment consistent with the company’s technology portfolio.

This position requires excellent leadership skills, strategic thinking capabilities, and a strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance. Candidates must be adept at managing multiple dynamic priorities, communicating effectively with diverse teams, and ensuring operational objectives align with business goals. Additional skills include proficiency with plant historian systems, distributed control systems (DCS), turbine control systems, and the Microsoft Office suite.
