The Plant Operator/Local Delivery Driver role based in Roseville, MN, at Airgas is a dual-function position that combines the responsibilities of safely operating a plant facility and delivering compressed gas cylinders to customers within the local and regional areas. Acting as ambassadors for Airgas, employees in this role take pride in managing the flow of cylinders efficiently and building lasting relationships with customers. This position requires the operation of company-provided straight or box trucks and involves delivering cylinders containing compressed gases, maintaining accurate delivery records, and adhering strictly to safety protocols and government regulations, including those from DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA. The Plant Operator/Local Delivery Driver will also provide warehouse support and assistance on the dock as needed.
The role demands a blend of physical capability, including routinely lifting weights ranging from 25 to 75 pounds and occasionally heavier loads up to and exceeding 125 pounds with material handling equipment. Candidates must hold a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License, valid Medical Examiner's Card, and preferably a Hazmat endorsement or willingness to obtain one. The position requires driving hazardous cargo safely for up to 8 hours daily and the ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and obtain forklift operator certification. Job Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years or older
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License
- Valid Medical Examiner's Card
- Hazmat endorsement or willingness to obtain
- One year of professional driving experience within the last five years or a driving school diploma with experience
- Clean driving record with limited convictions or at-fault accidents
- Physical ability to lift weights as required
- Ability to drive hazardous cargo for up to 8 hours
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to obtain forklift operator certification
Job Qualifications
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License
- Valid Medical Examiner's Card
- Hazmat endorsement or willingness to obtain
- At least one year of prior Class A or B professional driving experience within the last five years
- Clean driving record with no more than two convictions or two at-fault accidents in the last three years
- Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets
- Ability to routinely lift 25 to 75 pounds and occasionally heavier weights with equipment
- Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines
- Must be able to obtain forklift operator certification
Job Duties
- Safely load, deliver, and unload cylinders containing compressed gases to customer locations
- Accurately record deliveries and pick-ups on a load manifest, obtaining customer signatures
- Collect empty, rejected, or unsold cylinders and return them for refilling
- Adhere to all Airgas safety standards and government regulations including DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA
- Provide warehouse support and assistance on the dock as needed
