Job Description

Airgas, an Air Liquide company, is a leading supplier in the United States of industrial, medical, and specialty gases, as well as hardgoods and related products. Recognized as one of the largest suppliers of safety products and ammonia products in the country, Airgas operates with a profound commitment to safety, customer service, sustainability, and innovation. With a workforce of 18,000 associates, the company fosters a culture where employees are encouraged to share ideas, take initiative, and make decisions that contribute to organizational success. As a subsidiary of Air Liquide, a global leader in gases, technologies, and services for industry and healthcare, Airgas benefits from a presence in 60 countries and serves more than 4 million customers and patients worldwide.

Join Airgas in Tampa, FL as a Plant Operator / CDL A Driver, a role that combines the essential duties of industrial gas cylinder handling and professional commercial vehicle operation. This is a home-daily position designed for individuals seeking a reliable, balanced work schedule, primarily Sunday through Thursday from 4 PM with occasional Friday and Saturday support. The position offers a 40 to 42-hour workweek, promoting sustainable work-life balance and quality time with family and friends. Candidates are supported by a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, and disability insurance, parental leave with up to 14 weeks paid childbirth benefits, 401(k) retirement plan with company match, tuition assistance, paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave.

The role of the Production Operator/CDL A Driver is pivotal for Airgas's operations, contributing directly to the cylinder requalification, filling, and repair processes. Operators use material handling equipment to move industrial gas cylinders throughout the plant and manage the loading and unloading of these cylinders from delivery trucks. The delivery aspect of the job requires driving a company-provided tractor-trailer with CDL A certification to deliver compressed gas cylinders safely and efficiently to local and regional customers. This role involves physical activity including loading, unloading, securing, and unstrapping cylinders, as well as navigating customer properties with hand carts. Airgas supports its drivers with modern, technologically advanced vehicles equipped with onboard computers, collision avoidance, camera technologies, and GPS navigation.

Candidates must hold a valid Class A CDL with HAZMAT and Airbrake endorsements, as the HAZMAT certification is a mandatory requirement. The ideal candidate has a clean driving record with no more than two traffic convictions or at-fault accidents in the past three years and no substance abuse violations within seven years. The position requires the physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds regularly and move heavier loads with material handling equipment. Minimum one year of CDL driving experience in the last five years or recent completion of trucking school is necessary.

Airgas values diversity and inclusion highly and welcomes applications from all qualified individuals regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or other protected characteristics. The company ensures equal opportunity and provides reasonable accommodations as needed during the employment process. At Airgas, your differences enhance performance, and your contributions play a significant role in driving success and innovation in a supportive and engaging work environment.
