Job Description
The company is a leading player in the biotechnology and fermentation industry, specializing in the production of clean label preservatives derived from fermentation processes. Located in Rochester, Minnesota, the facility operates with a staff of approximately 100 full-time employees and is committed to maintaining high standards in quality, safety, and operational efficiency. The Plant Manager role at the Rochester site is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing the entire local operations, including production plans, engineering, maintenance programs, safety initiatives, and logistics related to shipping and receiving. This management role ensures customer satisfaction by focusing on quality, quantity, safety compliance, and adhering to production lead times. The Plant Manager will lead and inspire a diverse operations team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
This role requires a strong technical background in fermentation and fermentation operations, including experience with aseptic and hygienic fermentation processes. Expertise in downstream process operations such as centrifugation, filtration, evaporation, and spray drying of fermentation broths is highly desired. The Plant Manager will be deeply involved in the development and implementation of group-wide procedures and policies to optimize production efficiency and product quality.
In addition to the operational responsibilities, the Plant Manager will collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams spanning Manufacturing, Process Sciences, Research and Development (R&D), Supply Chain, and Finance. A key aspect of the role involves partnering closely with Product Management to develop prioritized production plans aligned with business objectives. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and communication skills, capable of working across departments to drive strategic initiatives and operational goals.
The position also partners directly with the BioFermentation business unit and Process Technology leadership, contributing to the execution of Kerry’s growth strategy focused on fermentation-based capabilities. The Plant Manager will play a pivotal role in resource allocation to support strategic priorities and growth opportunities. Business acumen and the ability to navigate a complex corporate environment are essential.
Employment for this role is full-time with a competitive salary range of $184,000 - $239,000 base plus bonus plan and full relocation benefits available. Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in fermentation or biotechnology operations
- Proven experience in managing production teams and processes
- Strong technical knowledge of fermentation and downstream processes
- Ability to work cross-functionally across departments
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Eligibility to work in the United States
- Successful completion of background checks and drug screening

Job Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree required
- Master’s degree preferred
