Job Description
Piccolo Buco by Cooper's Hawk is a renowned restaurant known for blending high-quality pizza with a sophisticated dining experience. Positioned within the hospitality and culinary industry, this establishment values passion for food, precision in preparation, and creating memorable moments for guests. Piccolo Buco emphasizes a culture of teamwork, excellence, and continuous learning, which fosters growth and development for its employees. This setting is ideal for individuals who are passionate about culinary arts and wish to thrive in a lively and demanding kitchen environment.
The role of Pizzaiolo at Piccolo Buco is more than just preparing pizza; it is about delivering an exceptional dining experience that aligns with the brand’s high standards. The Pizzaiolo oversees the preparation and cooking of dough and pizzas, ensuring consistency, quality, and presentation that meet the restaurant's reputation. This position requires mastering dough preparation techniques, monitoring oven temperatures, and managing cook times to achieve the perfect pizza each time. The Pizzaiolo is also responsible for maintaining a clean and organized workstation, supporting inventory and kitchen systems, and leading the team by example.
Beyond cooking, the Pizzaiolo will train and certify dough prep and pizza cook team members, use kitchen display systems to manage timing and flow, and collaborate with management and front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service. Emphasizing teamwork, communication, and adherence to procedure is vital in this role. The candidate must exhibit a positive attitude, represent the company’s core values, and contribute to a kitchen culture that is both passionate and positive. Attention to detail and willingness to assist in various kitchen areas to maintain smooth kitchen operations is a critical aspect of the job.
Piccolo Buco offers a competitive benefits package that promotes employee well-being and career advancement. Benefits include medical, prescription, dental, and vision insurance, flexible spending and health savings accounts, employee assistance programs, life and disability coverage, and a 401(k) plan with company match. The company provides perks such as discounts on dining, carryout, retail, and wine products, paid time off, early pay access, and wellness programs. There are also additional employee-focused amenities like monthly wine tastings, culinary education opportunities, and recognition programs to reward team members and encourage career growth.
This full-time position demands flexibility, as the Pizzaiolo is expected to work weekends, holidays, and adapt to varied schedules. Candidates should have at least 18 years of age with a minimum of six months supervisory experience in pizza or prep production, preferably within a high-volume, full-service restaurant. Scratch kitchen experience is preferred, along with strong teamwork skills, the ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Certifications such as ServSafe and compliance with local licensing requirements are preferred.
Piccolo Buco by Cooper's Hawk is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and inclusion, providing reasonable accommodations through the employment process. The role offers an exciting opportunity to join a leading restaurant that prides itself on quality, creativity, and a supportive work environment.
