As a pizza cook, you will play a crucial part in creating an unforgettable dining experience for guests by preparing high-quality dishes in a fast-paced, team-oriented kitchen. This position involves learning traditional cooking methods, including how to make homemade pastas and bread, mastering the use of wood-fire grills and ovens, and acquiring whole animal butchery skills. Your daily responsibilities will include ensuring food is prepared according to strict portion sizes, cooking methods, and quality standards, while maintaining kitchen cleanliness and adhering to all safety and sanitation regulations set by the DHEC.
Working as a pizza cook requires attention to detail, dedication to quality, and a willingness to learn and grow your culinary skills. Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years experience in kitchen preparation and line cook roles
- Basic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills
- Basic food cost knowledge
- Understanding and knowledge of kitchen safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures
- Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must be able to speak, read, and understand basic cooking directions
- Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen, and restaurant employees
Job Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years experience in kitchen preparation and line cook roles
- Basic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills
- Basic knowledge of food cost management
- Understanding of kitchen safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures
- Ability to communicate clearly with managers and staff
- Ability to read and understand basic cooking directions
Job Duties
- Willingness to learn how to make homemade pastas and bread on a daily basis
- Interested in learning how to cook with wood fire grills and ovens
- Interested in performing whole animal butchery techniques
- Accurately and efficiently prepare the highest quality cuisine for guests complying with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, and kitchen policies
- Assume full responsibility for the quality of products served
- Adhere to all cleanliness and sanitation regulations
- Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work station including all kitchen equipment
- Prepare items for broiling, grilling, frying, sauting, or other cooking methods by portioning, battering, breading, seasoning and maintaining
- Follow proper plate presentation and garnish set up
- Assist in food prep assignments during off-peak periods
- Close the kitchen properly following the closing checklist and assist others in closing
- Attend all scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement
