Job Description
Pacific Companies Inc., through its Locum Tenens Division, is a respected healthcare staffing organization specializing in connecting physicians with rewarding temporary and permanent positions across the United States. The company has a strong presence in the Detroit market, particularly in the healthcare sector, where it collaborates with renowned medical institutions and facilities to meet staffing needs. One of their key partnerships is with the Kresge Eye Institute, a leading ophthalmology center affiliated with Wayne State University School of Medicine. The institute is known for providing comprehensive and specialized eye care to patients from throughout metropolitan Detroit and the Midwest, including advanced surgical procedures and treatments for complex eye conditions. As part of its ongoing growth and expansion, Pacific Companies Inc. is actively seeking qualified Ophthalmology physicians to join its Eye Care program in Michigan. They are focusing specifically on candidates with an active Michigan state license, although they are open to considering out-of-state physicians depending on availability and flexibility. The employment opportunity allows for either full-time or part-time work, offering adaptable schedule options to accommodate physician preferences and availability.
This Ophthalmology position at Pacific Companies Inc. offers physicians the chance to practice in a dynamic and supportive environment, with the potential to work in either locum tenens (temporary) or permanent roles. Physicians joining this program will be affiliated with hospital partners that collaborate closely with the Kresge Eye Institute. This relationship provides access to a broad patient base and exposure to a variety of ophthalmic subspecialties, including glaucoma treatment, cataract and lens implant surgery, corneal transplantation, refractive surgery, neuro-ophthalmology, orbital diseases and plastic surgery, retinal disease management, vitreous surgery, and diabetic eye care. The Kresge Eye Institute treats more than 90,000 patients annually and performs nearly 4,000 surgical procedures, emphasizing patient-centered care that ensures every individual receives attention and compassionate service.
Physicians in this role will find a wide range of clinical services at their disposal, including comprehensive ophthalmology, diagnostic laboratories, and optometry services located in vision centers to support patient care needs. The position also involves coverage for 24-hour call shifts with both day and night availability, providing essential continuity of care. There is the potential option for academic affiliation through Wayne State University School of Medicine faculty members, offering additional professional development and teaching opportunities.
The Detroit area itself presents an excellent location for work and leisure. Residents benefit from top-rated public and parochial schools, vibrant cultural venues such as theaters, symphonies, and operas, diverse dining experiences including ethnic cuisine, and a wide range of shopping options from luxury boutiques to major retailers. Detroit is home to all major professional sports teams, making it a lively metropolitan area to live and work. The housing market offers some of the best values in the country, including unique options such as lakefront or horse properties. Physicians recruited for this program will receive competitive compensation, and Pacific Companies Inc. covers malpractice insurance, transportation, and lodging expenses during assignments.
For qualified Ophthalmology physicians interested in joining a progressive and collaborative eye care program with strong hospital partnerships, Pacific Companies Inc. provides a supportive platform with flexible scheduling and ongoing opportunities. Interested candidates are encouraged to contact Ian Glendinning, Director of Recruitment for the Locum Tenens Division, directly, providing their availability, desired pay rate, a current CV, and contact information. All inquiries will be handled confidentially, underscoring the company’s commitment to professionalism and respect for candidates throughout the recruitment process. This is a unique chance to contribute to expanding eye care services in the Detroit area while enjoying the benefits of a vibrant urban environment and working alongside some of the country’s top ophthalmology specialists.
