The University of Santa Fe Family Medicine Residency program at CHRISTUS St. Vincent is a unique, community-based, university-affiliated training initiative. This program is designed specifically to train family medicine physicians who are prepared to serve rural and underserved communities across northern New Mexico. Residents spend their first year training at the University of New Mexico and their second and third years at CHRISTUS St. Vincent in Santa Fe. This two-pronged approach offers trainees exposure to a wide range of clinical environments and patient populations, enhancing their skills and preparing them for the challenges of practicing family medicine in diverse settings.
The role of Program Director for the Family Medicine Residency at CHRISTUS St. Vincent is a critical leadership position tasked with overseeing all aspects of the residency program. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing program operations, developing and refining the curriculum, recruiting faculty, and ensuring compliance with accreditation requirements. The Program Director will foster a supportive academic environment that encourages resident learning and professional growth while promoting a culture of excellence and innovation in family medicine education.
Collaboration and partnership are at the heart of this role. The Program Director will work closely with key stakeholders including the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, CHRISTUS St. Vincent leadership, and community organizations to help advance the goals of the residency program and contribute to broader health equity and workforce development efforts in New Mexico.
