Job Duties
- Provide management oversight and guidance in credentialing and privileging, physician peer review, and medical staff quality assurance including bylaws and regulations
- Respond to and resolve physician behavior issues through medical staff bylaws with proactive clinical review processes such as physician profiles and scorecards
- Maintain Texas Medical Association providership for CME and lead the CME committee ensuring education meets clinical, quality, and performance needs
- Oversee the graduate medical education program for UTHSC
- Lead measurement and improvement of clinical care processes and outcomes linking quality improvement to efficient resource use and clinical service excellence
- Provide leadership for clinical care standardization ensuring knowledge-based practices are implemented
- Develop and provide physician scorecards on quality and cost of care
- Oversee key department programs including Critical Care Intensivist program implementation, Hospitalist Program enhancements, ACS Trauma II Certification maintenance, Family Care Center provider oversight, and alignment with hospital objectives
- Provide senior leadership in clinical safety and risk reduction
- Collaborate closely with IT teams to implement electronic medical records
- Ensure achievement of quality and clinical imperatives
- Direct physician leadership development and Medical Executive Committee activities
- Lead clinical research efforts and participate in Institutional Research Board
- Support clinical system integration through standardized care and coordinated programs
