The Physician Assistant (PA) role at Corewell Health is a full-time, day-shift position based primarily at the Dearborn Hospital campus, supporting the cardiac surgery programs at the Troy, Royal Oak, and Dearborn locations. This vital role involves working closely within the multidisciplinary surgical services and cardiovascular surgery teams to provide high-quality medical management to patients undergoing cardiac surgical procedures. PAs employed here are graduates of accredited programs, nationally certified, and state-licensed professionals with independent prescriptive authority, including for Schedule II-V controlled substances under their own DEA registration. They are responsible for comprehensive patient assessments, including detailed history and physical examinations, ordering and interpreting laboratory and diagnostic studies, developing care plans based on current clinical guidelines, and collaborating with physicians and other health professionals. The position includes on-call, weekend, and holiday duties in alignment with departmental needs.

Physician Assistants at Corewell Health are entrusted with performing procedures as indicated by patient needs, education, and experience, under established practice agreements. They document all medical findings accurately and timely, prepare legible reports including history & physicals, progress notes, procedure notes, discharge instructions, and summaries.
