This clinic serves an average of 18 patients daily, offering a balanced mix of new patient assessments, follow-up care, and acute visits. The Physician Assistant Primary Care role at Baylor Scott & White is a licensed, certified healthcare provider position responsible for direct patient care within the clinic setting. The PA is granted prescriptive authority and functions as an independent provider credentialed and billed by Medicare and Medicaid. They are responsible for thorough physical and mental assessments of patients, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications and treatments, and performing approved procedures including Pap smears. The role offers opportunities to expand procedural skills and supports a broad scope of clinical practice under physician supervision.
This position features flexible scheduling options primarily Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with possibilities for 4x10 work shifts, supporting work-life balance and accommodating individual needs. The clinic provides a rich onboarding experience, with structured transition support lasting 12 to 18 months for new graduates and continuous mentorship from supervising physicians and APP leadership. The Advanced Practice Provider is encouraged to grow professionally through access to a professional development program and routine quality review processes. Additional moonlighting opportunities within the healthcare system are available for interested providers.

Job Requirements
- Open to new graduates and experienced advanced practice providers
- preferred 1+ year of experience
- basic life support certification required
- current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the state of Texas
- current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA)
- ability to perform procedures including pap smears and other approved protocols
- capacity to manage in-basket messages individually and collaboratively
- willingness to participate in structured onboarding and ongoing mentorship
- eligibility to work within the Baylor Scott & White Health system
Job Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited physician assistant program
- less than 1 year of professional experience
- current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA)
- current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the state of Texas
- current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- strong verbal and written communication skills
- ability to develop and implement comprehensive patient treatment plans
- proficient in counseling patients about medical and psychological conditions
- skilled in interpreting and evaluating laboratory and diagnostic tests

Job Duties
- Assess the physical and mental condition of patients by performing comprehensive or problem-focused physical exams and obtaining medical histories
- orders, collects, interprets, and evaluates laboratory and other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health care needs
- prescribes, recommends, or uses medical drug therapies or other treatments
- performs procedures following approved protocols, focusing on efficacy, safety, and cost
- recommends interventions to modify behavior associated with health risks
- creates and carries out detailed patient treatment plans based on assessments, evidence-based medicine, and care standards
- collaborates with physicians and team members when needed
- evaluates patient’s response to health care provided and the effectiveness of care
- counsels patients and families regarding medical processes, management of the health illness/condition, medication, nutrition, and health promotion
- maintains appropriate records detailing the patient’s treatment plans and outcomes
- initiates timely consultation and referral when the problem exceeds scope or expertise
- provide consultation level services for conditions/problems related to the provider’s specialty and training
- perform invasive procedures specific to scope of practice as delegated by supervising physician
