The position of Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) available through Banner Staffing Services is a part-time, per diem role based at Banner Thunderbird in Glendale, Arizona. The role is designed for self-motivated individuals who thrive in a flexible work environment with self-scheduling capabilities across Sunday to Saturday, typically from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. This position is integral to the delivery of patient-centered physical therapy under the direct supervision of licensed Physical Therapists. The PTA will be responsible for administering therapeutic treatments as per established plans of care, monitoring patient progress, modifying interventions in collaboration with supervising therapists, and participating actively in multidisciplinary care teams.

Job Requirements

  • Completion of post-offer Occupational Health physical assessment
  • Successful drug screen and background check including employment, criminal, and education verification
  • Valid Physical Therapy Assistant license if state requires
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Must possess Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card if working for Banner Home Care AZ
  • Ability to relate clinical experience and training during interview
  • Capability to perform duties involving patient care equipment and therapeutic modalities

Job Qualifications

  • Graduated from a Physical Therapy Assistant program accredited by APTA or equivalent
  • Possess current Physical Therapy Assistant license if required by state
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Demonstrated clinical competency through experience, training, and education
  • Proficient with patient care equipment, therapeutic modalities, and office technology
  • For registry and travel positions, minimum one year of Therapy Assistant experience preferred
  • Additional related education or experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Administers physical therapy treatment according to the plan of care established by the Physical Therapist
  • Implements individualized treatment plan considering patient-specific needs
  • Monitors effectiveness of treatment and collaborates with Physical Therapist to modify plan
  • Participates in discharge planning and involves patient and family in treatment decisions
  • Demonstrates understanding of scope of practice and communicates changes to supervising Physical Therapist
  • Documents treatment and patient progress following departmental standards
  • Communicates treatment results and progress to physicians, nurses, patient, family, and interdisciplinary team
  • Exhibits adaptability in assignments related to caseload and scheduling
  • Supervises and delegates tasks to Therapy Technicians and PTA students per policy
  • Participates in departmental meetings and process improvements
  • Meets productivity standards of the department
  • Interacts with staff, physicians, patients, families, and external entities regarding patient care
