Job Description
Macquarie is a leading global financial services group operating in 31 markets with over 56 years of continuous profitability. Macquarie's Commodities and Global Markets business is a dynamic and comprehensive operation providing its diverse client base with extensive solutions in risk management, financing, physical execution, and logistics across a broad spectrum of commodity products. This division specializes in delivering bespoke and innovative solutions that cater to the unique needs of clients globally. The team's expertise and global reach enable Macquarie to maintain an authoritative position in the commodities trading and logistics industry, supported by cutting-edge technology and a collaborative organizational culture that encourages innovation, accountability, and professional growth.
Within this expansive framework, the Commodity Logistics and Deal Management team plays a pivotal role in managing oil terminal inventory and scheduling across the physical oil value chain. This team is critical in ensuring seamless operational execution and excellence by carefully managing logistics and scheduling activities to optimize the delivery and storage of commodity products. The team collaborates intensively with various stakeholders including traders, originators, and internal support departments such as Tax, Market Services, and Legal to drive operational success and meet strategic objectives.
The role of Physical Oil Scheduler is central to Macquarie’s Commodity Logistics and Deal Management team. This full-time, on-site position requires a dedicated professional who will be responsible for overseeing logistics operations and scheduling across a portfolio of deals, including the management of waterborne and pipeline movements as well as inventory tracking. The Physical Oil Scheduler must develop a comprehensive understanding of deal structures within the trading platform RightAngle and its integration with greater Macquarie systems and processes. This understanding allows them to support key operational deliverables tailored to internal and external stakeholders. The position demands close collaboration and communication skills to coordinate various facets of commodity trading and logistics effectively.
This role is uniquely suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and who exhibits strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly in the realm of commodity scheduling and shipping risk. A minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience in oil products commercial operations is highly valued within this position. Candidates with an understanding and experience of marine and pipeline scheduling are especially desirable. The role also rewards proactive individuals who bring an eagerness to learn, a sense of urgency, accountability, and a collaborative mindset to foster knowledge sharing and workflow efficiency.
Macquarie values innovation and continuous improvement; therefore, familiarity with AI Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) and data-driven decision-making are important capabilities for the Physical Oil Scheduler. Exposure to ancillary operational functions such as profit and loss reporting, position management, funding, compliance reporting, tax, and insurance will provide a well-rounded understanding and support of the broader business. Personal development and professional growth are strongly encouraged, with Macquarie offering a supportive environment for employees to build long-term rewarding careers.
Macquarie offers an attractive array of benefits and a welcoming workplace culture committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Employees enjoy a range of well-being and leave entitlements, comprehensive insurance packages, parental leave benefits, volunteer opportunities, and strong support for mental and physical health. Flexible and hybrid working arrangements are offered where applicable, coupled with extensive learning and development opportunities, recognition programs, and reimbursements for professional memberships and home office equipment. By joining the Physical Oil Scheduler role, candidates gain an opportunity to contribute to a high-performing global team and participate in shaping futures in commodity markets and logistics.
