BCNY offers evidence-based programs designed to address the evolving social, emotional, health, creative, educational, and vocational needs of its members in meaningful and lasting ways. The organization is committed to cultivating positive qualities in its members and continually expanding the impact of its programs. BCNY is located at 565 Morris Ave, Bronx, NY 10451, and it operates as a key community resource focused on youth development and empowerment.
We are currently seeking a Physical Education Program Coordinator to join our team on a part-time, non-exempt basis, working approximately 25 hours per week with a salary of $20.00 per hour. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, supervising, and evaluating ongoing physical fitness and recreation programs that meet the diverse interests and needs of our members. As the Program Coordinator, you will empower members through recreation programs that follow best practices in the field, promoting member success and well-being. Additionally, you will oversee the daily operation of fitness and gym facilities to ensure equipment and programs adhere to necessary risk management and safety standards. Operating under the general direction of the Physical Education Director, this position offers an opportunity to exercise independent judgment and initiative in managing fitness-related activities.
Your responsibilities will include overseeing the daily operations of fitness and recreation programs and gym facilities, developing creative and educational physical activity programs such as instructional classes, competitions, personal training, and assessments. You will also seek out partnerships and collaborative opportunities with similar organizations to expand program offerings and enrich the experiences of the members. The role requires supervising and training seasonal staff, volunteers, and members to maintain high-quality programming and safety standards. You will be expected to manage activities both on-site and at external locations, maintain a flexible schedule including availability on weekends, and utilize behavior management strategies to address inappropriate conduct effectively. Attending departmental meetings and professional development sessions is also part of the role, as is performing any additional duties assigned to support the organization's goals.
This is an ideal position for professionals with a background in health, wellness, fitness programming, recreation management, or physical education who are passionate about youth development and eager to make a positive impact in the Bronx community. The Boys' Club of New York is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and inclusion and provides accommodations as needed for individuals with disabilities or other protected needs. If you seek a meaningful part-time role in a respected organization dedicated to youth empowerment through physical education, consider joining our passionate team.
