Job Description
Jostens is a renowned leader in the student commemoration market with over 125 years of experience serving communities across the United States. Known for its iconic products such as yearbooks, letter jackets, class jewelry, and championship rings, Jostens has established itself as a brand that helps celebrate unique stories, milestone moments, and major accomplishments for students and organizations nationwide. Operating through 13 state-of-the-art facilities globally, including North America and the Caribbean, Jostens is dedicated to maintaining meaningful traditions and inspiring millions annually. The company values inclusivity and equal opportunity, striving to create an environment that welcomes people from all backgrounds and abilities, in strict compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
This particular role is a seasonal Photo Team Manager position beginning June 15, 2026, with a hybrid working arrangement that combines remote work with onsite activities at various school locations. Candidates must reside in Toledo, OH, or surrounding cities to qualify. The role offers competitive compensation ranging from $26 to $28 per hour, with full-time status that makes the employee eligible for healthcare benefits. The seasonal flexibility allows working from June through November, with a possibility to extend into December depending on the event schedule. Employees can expect to work an average of over 30 hours per week, with overtime opportunities and daily pay options through DailyPay, a platform that facilitates daily wage access. Paid training is provided, and no prior photography experience is required, making this role perfect for individuals passionate about leadership, organization, and student engagement.
As a Photo Team Manager at JostensPIX, you will take charge of overseeing and inspiring a team of photographers who capture memorable moments for K-12 students and their families. This leadership position involves comprehensive training responsibilities, including a three-day paid "Train the Trainer" session at the JostensPIX headquarters in Minnesota and virtual training sessions. Additionally, you will identify local training venues and collaborate with training specialists to ensure your team is fully prepared throughout the season. Your role also entails managing all aspects of school photography operations—from scheduling the right photographers for each event to ensuring the proper organization and storage of photography equipment. Coordination with team members and event leads for gear pickups and preparing equipment for shipment at the end of the season is also part of your responsibilities.
Beyond operational oversight, you will manage employee coordination, partnering with HR to hire and interview photographers, assigning school schedules, and ensuring excellent communication between photographers, school contacts, and the broader team. Expect to conduct or lead weekly virtual team meetings to maintain alignment and productivity. You will oversee travel arrangements, approve expenses, and ensure adherence to company standards regarding attendance and professionalism.
On busy photography days, you will occasionally step in as a photographer or event lead, providing critical hands-on support. Your presence will help guarantee smooth event operations, from equipment setup to solving technical issues. Flexibility is crucial for this position, as early mornings, evenings, and travel within the hub area are required. Physical stamina is also necessary since lifting and carrying equipment up to 50 pounds is part of the role.
Ideal candidates will bring demonstrated leadership experience with a proven track record of managing teams under pressure. Typically, candidates have a four-year degree or an equivalent mix of education, customer service, and business experience. Strong communication skills, organizational prowess, and technological fluency are essential. A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle capable of transporting photography equipment are also mandatory. Since the role involves working within school environments, candidates must be comfortable interacting positively with students of all ages and abilities while maintaining a professional appearance in line with Jostens' corporate image.
Jostens fosters a collaborative and supportive workplace where employees are valued and rewarded. Employees benefit from competitive pay, healthcare coverage (including health, dental, and vision), a 401K plan with immediate vesting, daily pay options, and other voluntary benefits such as discounts on home, car, and pet insurance, as well as travel perks. With a commitment to employee wellness and success, Jostens offers an environment where team members can grow, contribute, and make a difference capturing the joy and memories of student life.
