Job Description
Jostens is a renowned company that has been leading the student commemoration market for over 125 years. With a rich history serving local communities across the United States, Jostens partners annually with thousands of K-12 schools, colleges, and universities. The company is widely recognized for its iconic products, including yearbooks, letter jackets, class jewelry, and championship rings. These products help to keep cherished traditions alive and inspire millions of people to celebrate their unique stories, milestone moments, and biggest accomplishments every year. Operating with 13 first-class facilities across the globe, ranging from North America to the Caribbean, Jostens remains a trusted name in the commemoration industry.
Jostens is currently seeking a Seasonal Photo Team Manager based in Houston, TX or surrounding areas. This hybrid position combines remote and onsite work at various school locations. The role offers competitive hourly pay ranging from $25.50 to $27.50 per hour. Employment is seasonal from June through November, with the possibility of extension into December depending on event schedules. The average workweek is approximately 30 hours, with opportunities for overtime and additional pay during peak weeks. Full-time status is attained during the season, making candidates eligible for healthcare benefits, among other perks.
The Photo Team Manager will lead the school photography operations by supporting and motivating a team of photographers to capture memorable school moments for students from kindergarten through 12th grade and their families. This leadership position requires a blend of training, logistics management, hands-on event coordination, and effective team oversight to ensure that each school photo day operates seamlessly. Training includes a 3-day paid "Train the Trainer" session held at JostensPIX Headquarters in Minnesota, complemented by virtual training sessions. The manager will coordinate with training specialists to ensure the team is well-prepared before the season starts.
Responsibilities encompass managing photo day logistics, scheduling the appropriate number of photographers per event, overseeing equipment storage and transportation, and coordinating weekly exchange of photography data and gear. The manager will also work closely with HR to recruit photographers, directly supervise the photography team, assign school coverage, ensure clear communication between photographers and school contacts, and uphold company standards related to attendance and performance. Additional duties involve leading weekly virtual meetings, collaborating with travel coordinators to arrange hotel stays, and managing photographers’ expenses including overtime and travel reimbursements.
In times of high demand, the Photo Team Manager may step into the role of photographer or event lead, providing direct support and troubleshooting technical issues to maintain smooth operations. A key aspect of this role is flexibility; the manager must be willing to work varied hours including early mornings and evenings, and travel within their assigned hub as needed.
Ideal candidates bring proven leadership skills, exceptional communication abilities, and a strong aptitude for organization and attention to detail. They should be technologically savvy, capable of lifting and carrying equipment up to 50 pounds, and maintain a professional appearance that reflects Jostens’ corporate image. A valid driver’s license and reliable, insured vehicle are required since the position involves frequent travel to school locations. Candidates should also be comfortable working within school environments of students of all ages and abilities.
Jostens is committed to fostering an inclusive work environment and offers reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals. The company provides a comprehensive benefits package including healthcare, dental, and vision coverage, a 401K plan with immediate vesting, paid training, and a daily pay option through DailyPay. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about photography and leadership, looking to join a supportive team with opportunities for growth and meaningful work impacting students’ lives.
