Job Description
The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is a renowned nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting communities with wildlife and wild places through conservation, education, and exceptional visitor experiences. As a respected institution in Jacksonville, Florida, the Zoo is committed to fostering a love for nature and wildlife while supporting global conservation efforts. The Zoo offers visitors a chance to explore beautiful gardens, observe a diverse array of animal species, and participate in educational programs that inspire environmental stewardship. This organization values sustainability, community engagement, and partnerships to maximize its impact both locally and internationally.
The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is currently seeking a detail-driven and creative Philanthropy Coordinator, Sponsorship to join its team. This entry-level role is ideal for a motivated administrative professional interested in nonprofit fundraising and corporate partnerships. In this position, the individual will serve as a connector, planner, and proactive problem solver, supporting the sponsorship activities that enhance donor engagement and partner experiences. The Philanthropy Coordinator will provide essential administrative and project support to the Chief Marketing and Philanthropy Officer, playing a key behind-the-scenes role in organizing projects, maintaining timelines, and ensuring accurate completion of sponsor deliverables.
Key responsibilities include supporting sponsor activations and experiences across the Zoo, including high-profile areas such as the newly enhanced Manatee River. The coordinator will assist with VIP experiences and events, track sponsorship benefits, and maintain records to ensure partners feel valued and connected to the Zoo's mission. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in fundraising support, relationship management, event coordination, and cross-functional collaboration within a dynamic nonprofit environment.
Successful candidates will possess strong communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Technical proficiency is essential, with comfort using Microsoft Office 365 expected, and familiarity with donor databases like DonorPerfect considered a plus. A high level of integrity and attention to detail is critical, as the role involves handling confidential donor and sponsorship information with accuracy and discretion.
The position requires a proactive, flexible mindset and occasional availability during nights or weekends. Physical requirements include the ability to speak clearly, remain on feet for prolonged periods, and perform various physical movements such as bending and lifting up to 20 pounds. This role supports the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens' mission to connect communities with wildlife and wild places, offering a rewarding career path for those passionate about nonprofit work and environmental conservation.
The hourly pay range for this role is $18 to $19. The application deadline is 19 April 2026, with early submission encouraged as the position may close early if a sufficient number of qualified candidates apply. The organization is an equal opportunity employer committed to a drug-free workplace and maintaining compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment regulations.
