This role as a Pharmacy Technician involves performing a wide array of technical and support duties under the strict supervision of licensed pharmacists. The technician will be expected to carry out essential tasks that include assisting both inpatient and outpatient pharmacy operations. Inpatient duties cover technical activities such as medication auditing, training of junior pharmacy technicians, managing medication inventory including controlled substances, maintaining automated dispensing systems, and ensuring adherence to hospital policies and federal/state pharmacy regulations. Outpatient responsibilities include answering pharmacy phone lines, entering detailed patient and prescription data into pharmacy management software, processing prescription refills, managing specialty medications, executing cashiering functions, and providing coordination between patients, healthcare providers, and clinical staff.

Pharmacy technicians in this position will need to be knowledgeable in pharmaceutical terminology, pharmacology basics, and the laws regulating pharmacy practice. They will assist in medication preparation including compounding certain formulations (such as chemotherapy agents and high-value infusions), performing audits to maintain compliance, and participating in the development of quality improvement initiatives.
