The Pharmacy Operations Manager position is a pivotal role within this busy inpatient hospital pharmacy. This role demands a balance of strategic foresight and practical leadership, ensuring that all inpatient pharmacy functions run smoothly and effectively across critical hospital departments including the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Units, perioperative services, cardiology, oncology, and medical-surgical units.

In this role, the Pharmacy Operations Manager will oversee 24/7 pharmacy operations and spearhead initiatives in sterile compounding under USP standards 797 and 800, medication safety, antimicrobial stewardship, formulary optimization, and readiness for regulatory surveys. Reporting directly to the Director of Pharmacy, this position requires close collaboration with clinical leaders, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other healthcare professionals to deliver reliable, timely, and patient-centered medication management throughout the continuum of care. Responsibilities include designing efficient staffing models, optimizing work scheduling, managing inventory and procurement processes, strengthening diversion prevention efforts, enhancing automation and distribution workflows, and supporting continual EHR system upgrades and usage improvements.

Job Requirements

  • licensed pharmacist in the state of Utah
  • bachelor’s degree in pharmacy or related field
  • minimum of 5 years inpatient hospital pharmacy experience
  • knowledge of USP 797/800 sterile compounding standards
  • experience managing pharmacy teams and operations
  • proficiency with EHR systems and pharmacy automation
  • strong organizational and problem-solving skills
