The Pharmacy Cashier position at Lancaster Family Health Center offers a unique opportunity to play a critical role in the daily operations of the pharmacy. This role is essential in supporting patient access to medications and ensuring a seamless pharmacy service experience. The Pharmacy Cashier is responsible for delivering prescriptions efficiently, collecting payments, and facilitating pharmacist counseling when needed, thereby directly affecting patient satisfaction and safety. This position also involves managing clerical tasks, responding to nonclinical inquiries, supporting inventory control, and maintaining accurate documentation according to regulatory standards.
This full-time role offers 40 hours per week with competitive pay ranging from $18.35 to $22.48 per hour, with the potential for higher earnings based on experience. Candidates with bilingual English-Spanish skills receive additional pay. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum one year of relevant experience in pharmacy assistance, office, administrative, patient care, or customer service
- Pharmacy Assistant state registration or active Pharmacy Intern License required within 60 days of hire
- Bilingual English/Spanish speaking skills at a level 9
- Ability to maintain strong attention to detail and multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient communication and customer service abilities
- Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office
- Fundamental knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacy workflows
- Experience with pharmacy software systems
- Must pass controlled substances drug testing before and during employment
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- One year of pharmacy assistant, office, administrative, patient care or customer service experience
- Pharmacy assistant state registration required within 60 days of hire or active Pharmacy Intern License
- Bilingual English/Spanish speaking skills required at a level 9
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Effective communication and customer service skills
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacy workflows
- Experience using pharmacy software systems
Job Duties
- Assist patients at the pharmacy counter by delivering prescriptions, collecting payments, and coordinating pharmacist counseling as needed
- Enter and verify patient, prescription, and billing information accurately in pharmacy systems
- Answer phones, respond to nonclinical inquiries, and route calls appropriately
- Process prescription refills and assist with third-party billing and prior authorizations as allowed by state regulations
- Support inventory management by restocking medications, checking expiration dates, and verifying incoming orders
- Maintain pharmacy documentation and workflows in compliance with YVFWC, HRSA, and regulatory standards
- Perform other duties as assigned
