Located at 7355 Heritage Square Drive in Granger, Indiana, SpartanNash is seeking a dedicated and experienced Pharmacist to join their Pharmacy team. The position plays a critical role in the efficient, ethical, and lawful compounding and dispensing of prescription pharmaceuticals. The Pharmacist will be responsible not only for the accurate preparation and distribution of medications but also for advising customers on the appropriate use and storage of both prescription and over-the-counter drugs. Additional core responsibilities include managing pharmaceutical inventory, overseeing pharmacy technicians, and ensuring compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements. The Pharmacy operates Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 7 PM, on Saturdays from 9 AM to 4 PM, and Sundays from 11 AM to 4 PM, with closures on major holidays.

This role demands a professional who excels at multitasking, organization, attention to detail, and problem-solving while delivering exceptional customer service. The pharmacist will work closely with the Pharmacy Manager to address concerns, lead and support pharmacy technicians and interns, and maintain a clean, well-stocked environment adhering to company standards. The role also involves the implementation and management of various pharmacy programs including security measures, immunization programs, and other clinical services. The ideal candidate will maintain up-to-date knowledge of pharmacy laws, HIPAA regulations, and industry trends, recommending improvements for compliance and operational efficiency.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or related field
  • Three years experience in pharmaceutical department
  • Pharmacy License in good standing in the state of operation
  • Immunization Certification preferred
  • Knowledge of HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules and pharmacy laws
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Receive prescription and refill requests from customers and/or clinics and fill prescriptions requests efficiently and accurately and in a professional and courteous manner
  • Dispense medications as prescribed
  • oversee and ensure accurate retrieving, counting, pouring, weighing, mixing, packaging and/or labeling of products
  • Provide medication counsel and advise customers on both prescription and over-the-counter medications regarding use, dosage, drug interactions/side effects, storage, etc.
  • Order, stock, check inventory, and perform cycle counts in the pharmacy
  • Review and validate received orders for amount, quality, count or weight, condition and ensure all products are stored in appropriate areas
  • Ensure all outdated/damaged products are handled per established guidelines
  • Maintain pharmacy records including customer profiles, insurance forms, pharmacy record/POS systems, inventories, control records and registries
  • Lead and/or oversee pharmacy technicians and/or pharmacy interns as needed
  • Communicate with the Pharmacy Manager about any potential concerns
  • Maintain a clean and well-stocked department and ensure compliance with Company standards
  • Maintain and implement pharmacy programs such as security measures, immunizations and other clinical programs
  • May provide clinical care services as assigned
  • Stay current with legal regulations, industry trends and best Pharmacy practices and ensure legal compliance
  • Understand and communicate Company service and loyalty programs
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned
