The role of Pet Stylist (Dog and/or Cat Groomer) at PetSmart plays a vital part in creating positive experiences for pets and their parents by delivering exceptional grooming services. This position is responsible for independently executing a full menu of salon services including baths, brushes, grooming, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care while strictly adhering to PetSmart's bathing standards and safety protocols. As a Pet Stylist, you will interact with pet parents in person, over the phone, and at the point of sale, ensuring an outstanding customer experience throughout the grooming process. The role demands a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and animal safety standards within the grooming area as well as a responsive approach to handling any health concerns that may arise during service. Additionally, Pet Stylists contribute to salon sales performance by recommending additional health and wellness services and merchandise tailored to each pet's unique needs. The position requires strong organizational skills, verbal and written communication proficiency, and the ability to work flexibly including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Physical demands include lifting, standing for extended periods, and working in environments with pet hair and moderate noise levels. Job Requirements

Associate must be over the age of 18 except in Montana or where otherwise required by local or state law
Ability to stand, walk, climb a ladder, and use hands to handle, feel, hold, write, etc
Frequently required to reach with hands and arms
Stooping, kneeling, crouching, talking and hearing required
Specific vision abilities include depth perception
Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally team lift and/or move more than 100 pounds
Exposure to moving mechanical parts and wet environment with pet hair
Noise level is moderate with occasional high noise exposure
Exposure to live animals and their handling is common
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions

Job Qualifications

Prior grooming experience or 6 months of experience in the Stylist in Training job with successful completion of PetSmart's Salon Academy training and safety certification program or passes the salon technical evaluation
Proficiency in computer applications
Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure
Flexibility in schedule, able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and safety measures
Strong written and verbal communication skills

Job Duties

Independently perform full menu of bath, brush and grooming services and standalone services such as nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary services in accordance with PetSmart's bathing standards and procedures
Recommend additional health and wellness solutions with pet parents based on pet's needs
Responsible for the pet parent experience and outcomes conducted in person, over the phone and at the sales register
Greet pet parents, answer their questions and assist with making reservations in the salon
Conduct salon appointment reminder calls, maintain client records and consult with pet parents on services offered
Perform check-in and check-out procedures for grooming appointments including applicable paperwork and rebooking
Promote opportunities to grow salon sales to help achieve sales targets and productivity and other relevant salon metrics
Recommend, inform and sell merchandise and services
Maintain the highest level of cleanliness, sanitation and humane conditions for all pets in the grooming area by performing maintenance throughout the day including end of day cleaning in accordance with the maintenance checklist
Take immediate action when a sick or injured pet is identified in the store and transport to the vet as needed
Assist and work in other departments as required
