Recognized as a leader in the foodservice industry, US Foods is committed to helping its customers succeed while providing significant career growth opportunities for its employees. They operate with a collaborative spirit and service-oriented approach, fostering a workplace environment that values integrity, reliability, and respect for all individuals.
The role of a Delivery Driver at US Foods is essential in ensuring timely and accurate delivery of products to customers, with an emphasis on safety, customer service, and operational efficiency. This position is designed for individuals who value a structured work schedule, are physically capable, and are committed to upholding the company’s standards and cultural beliefs. The position offers a competitive base hourly wage of $28.90, with a 4-day workweek schedule consisting of Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, allowing for Wednesdays off. Shift hours typically start early in the morning between 3-6 AM and extend until all delivery routes are completed. Drivers are expected to handle the loading and unloading of products safely, verify delivery accuracy, obtain customer signatures, and manage any payment or collections as required.
Beyond the driving responsibilities, US Foods drivers serve as ambassadors of the company, providing professional customer service to enhance the client experience. This includes performing thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and maintaining communication that supports trust and reliability with customers. Additionally, drivers must meet physical demands such as lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling products weighing between 20 to over 80 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift, in all weather conditions.
Candidates for this role must be registered with the FMCSA Clearinghouse, be at least 21 years of age, hold a valid CDL Class A license with necessary endorsements, and have a minimum of six months of commercial driving experience in any industry or three months in the food and beverage delivery sector. Knowledge of operating manual transmission vehicles is preferred and may be required depending on specific locations. Strong English communication skills are necessary to read highway signs, respond to inquiries, and complete reports accurately.
US Foods recognizes the critical role drivers play as key representatives of their brand and offers a comprehensive Total Rewards package. This package respects and rewards associates for their effort and dedication, making US Foods not only a great company for customers but also a rewarding career choice for drivers. Dedicated to equal employment opportunities, US Foods fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace, embracing all backgrounds and identities, and promoting a respectful and supportive work environment where everyone has the chance to succeed.
