For this position, the pay range is set between $103,376.00 and $135,720.00 for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) role working 40 hours per week. Actual compensation may vary depending on assigned hours and position status, including part-time arrangements.

This role is focused on perinatal patient safety and quality care improvement within the obstetrics department. The position assumes 24-hour accountability for investigating all obstetrical adverse events, developing and maintaining a safety framework for perinatal clinical settings. The individual will collaborate closely with leadership to identify and execute strategic initiatives that enhance clinical practices to achieve superior patient outcomes and reduce risks. A key responsibility is to implement and sustain a comprehensive, unit-based safety program that fosters improved teamwork, communication, adoption of clinical best practices, and active patient and family engagement.

The successful candidate will lead efforts in deploying perinatal safety strategies such as safe electronic fetal monitoring, rapid response medication administration, general labor and delivery safety, and advanced in situ simulation training. These simulations cover critical emergency situations like postpartum hemorrhage, shoulder dystocia, umbilical cord prolapse, preeclampsia, uterine tachysystole, magnesium toxicity, vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC), and postoperative cesarean complications.

In addition to managing safety initiatives, the role requires leading interdisciplinary fetal strip and case reviews, collaborating with physicians and nurses to develop perinatal training programs, and promoting participation in educational programs and clinical drills. The individual will ensure delivery of the highest quality patient care, optimize patient flow, and enhance provider productivity and continuity of care.

The role also involves reviewing and responding to safety reports promptly, participating in daily safety huddles, disseminating relevant safety updates, and supporting compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Coordination with Risk Management, Regulatory Affairs, and Quality Departments is essential for developing audit tools, performing data analysis, and preparing reports to measure patient safety objectives effectively.

This position leads the Patient Safety Committee for Obstetrics and plays an integral role in driving organizational policies that minimize risk. The candidate must stay current with evolving national clinical standards and evidence-based perinatal safety literature to ensure best practices are integrated into the department's operations. This leadership role demands strong project management skills, data analysis expertise, and an ability to foster a collaborative environment amongst diverse clinical teams, all while maintaining the highest ethical standards and dedication to patient safety and quality care.
