The company’s culture is grounded in inclusion, collaboration, and continuous growth, offering comprehensive benefits and career development opportunities to its employees. This commitment ensures that each team member can make meaningful contributions to the communities they serve while advancing health optimization on a global scale.

Atrius Health, a member of the Optum family of businesses, is a multi-specialty group practice that provides effective and connected healthcare services to adult and pediatric patients across 28 practice locations in eastern Massachusetts. Known for its value-based approach, Atrius Health fosters collaboration among physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and ancillary clinicians to deliver patient-centered care in partnership with hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and nursing facilities. The organization’s vision focuses on transforming care and improving lives by emphasizing trust, understanding, and shared decision-making with patients.

The Lab Associate position at Atrius Health plays a critical role in supporting the laboratory department’s operations by collecting blood and other specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring the accuracy and safety of each procedure, and contributing to the overall efficiency and quality of patient care. In this role, the Lab Associate is responsible for performing venipuncture and other specimen collection methods, including finger sticks and heel sticks, while following established protocols to ensure patient comfort and safety. The associate prepares the necessary equipment, verifies test requisitions, identifies patients, and accurately labels samples for processing. Additional duties include accessioning specimens, conducting waived or moderately complex tests, performing quality control and maintenance on lab instruments, and contributing to training efforts for new or student personnel.

The position requires strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients and medical staff, ensuring clear and compassionate explanations of procedures and addressing any concerns. Candidates should be diligent about maintaining a clean, safe work environment, adhering to laboratory policy and safety standards, and utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment. The associate must be capable of drawing blood from patients of all ages and handling biohazards responsibly.

Compensation for this role ranges from $16.15 to $28.80 per hour, depending on factors such as education, experience, and certification.
