The Per Diem Patient Care Coordinator role at Optum offers an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic clinical environment where you will serve as a critical link between patients, their families, clinical staff, and other stakeholders. This position is centered at the Everett, Washington Surgery Center, where patient experience and operational efficiency are priorities. As a Patient Care Coordinator, you will greet and admit patients in a warm, professional manner, ensuring privacy and confidentiality in handling sensitive medical information. You will support surgical teams by coordinating patient flow, communicating updates to waiting guests, and managing transportation logistics to optimize the surgical care experience.

This flexible per diem role requires a commitment to work a minimum of one shift per week Monday through Friday, during 10-hour shifts between 5:45 AM and 5:30 PM Pacific Standard Time. You will receive comprehensive training tailored to your schedule, aligning with Optum’s mission to develop skilled professionals who uphold clinical excellence and patient-centered care. Employees in this role enjoy competitive hourly pay ranging from $18 to $32 depending on experience and qualifications.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years experience working with customers in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible to cover shifts at short notice
  • Ability to work 1 shift per week during 10-hour shifts between 5:45AM-5:30PM PST
  • Willingness to undergo drug test
  • Located or able to work at 3927 Rucker Ave, Everett, WA 98201

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years of customer service experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and as a team
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with healthcare providers
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • 1+ years experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook preferred
  • Experience in healthcare industry or medical setting preferred
  • Clerical or administrative support background preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
  • 2+ years work experience as receptionist in medical setting preferred

Job Duties

  • Greets patients in prompt, helpful, friendly manner
  • Admits patients, verifies and updates necessary information using Epic/OpTime system
  • Attentive to the patients and guests in waiting room, rounding on an as-needed basis to notify of delays in schedules and surgical/procedural status
  • Works directly with the post-anesthesia care areas to direct patient guests/family to the patient bedside as requested
  • Confirms with patient guests/family or ride services to ensure patients have appropriate and timely transportation
  • Prioritizes tasks and manages multiple duties at once
  • Answers incoming telephone calls in a timely manner and screens calls providing routing and non-medical information
  • Takes clear and complete messages and distributes pertinent information to appropriate staff
  • Acts as a resource to staff, patients, and families
  • Keeps stock of ASC office supplies
  • Prepares paperwork for next day surgery cases and ensures completeness
  • Creates forms and documents for Surgery Center staff
  • Collects and prepares surgical encounter paperwork to be scanned into electronic medical record
  • Performs other duties as assigned
