Job Description

Swedish Medical Center is a renowned healthcare network based in Seattle, Washington, known for its comprehensive and innovative medical services. Established as part of the Providence health system, Swedish operates five hospitals with over 1,500 beds and more than 115 primary and specialty care clinics throughout the region. The organization has a distinguished reputation for excellence in patient care, medical research, and treatment innovation. Swedish’s five award-winning institutes focus on cancer, digestive health, heart and vascular care, neuroscience, and orthopedics. The mission of Swedish Medical Center is to improve the health and well-being of every individual it serves, providing patient-centered care through a commitment to innovation, quality, and collaboration.

The Swedish Issaquah Highlands campus, located 17 miles east of downtown Seattle, is a full-service community hospital featuring 80 beds. It offers a broad spectrum of inpatient and outpatient specialty services including oncology, cardiology, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, emergency care, and intensive care, along with advanced surgical services. The emergency department at this campus is highly acclaimed, having received the Summit Award from Press Ganey Associates for maintaining patient satisfaction scores in the 95th percentile or higher for at least three consecutive years, highlighting its dedication to exceptional patient experiences.

Swedish Medical Center is currently seeking a Per Diem Obstetrics Hospitalist to join their team based at the Issaquah campus. This opportunity is perfect for physicians comfortable managing both obstetrics and gynecology patients who are looking for flexible work arrangements with competitive compensation. The role involves evaluating and treating patients in a 6-bed Obstetrics Emergency Department (OBED), assisting with surgical procedures, providing primary coverage for unassigned OB/GYN patients, backing up the midwifery group, and accepting transfers from out-of-hospital settings. Additional responsibilities include emergency department coverage, performing urgent and emergent OB and gynecologic surgeries, and caring for unassigned gynecology patients who require admission or surgery.

The Per Diem position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $209 to $215 depending on the shift and coverage, and the compensation package may include productivity or quality/service incentives, call pay, and extra shift incentives. The hospitalist team consists of 4.4 full-time equivalents, including a Medical Director and 4 Per Diem physicians, fostering a collaborative environment with opportunities for teaching residents and medical students. Physicians in this role have access to a private, on-site call room dedicated to the hospitalist team, further supporting work-life balance and professional efficiency.

Issaquah itself is a picturesque suburb of Seattle nestled near Lake Sammamish, surrounded by the Tiger, Squak, and Cougar mountains. It offers a unique blend of scenic outdoor activities and urban amenities, with historic shops attracting visitors worldwide and state parks providing extensive hiking and mountain biking trails. This location provides an excellent quality of life, making it an ideal place for medical professionals who value both career growth and lifestyle. Swedish Medical Center is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to inclusivity, including disability and veteran status, ensuring a supportive work environment for all employees.
