Job Description
The Sanctuary Beach Resort is a stunning oceanfront Monterey Bay resort and hotel located on 19 acres of scenic Pacific shoreline in Marina, California. As a rare beachfront property in Monterey Bay, The Sanctuary offers guests the unique experience of falling asleep to the soothing sounds of the surf from their private waterfront cottages. Situated between the pristine Monterey Bay and the protected Marina Dunes Preserve, this resort features 60 contemporary cottage guest rooms and suites that provide guests with uninterrupted panoramic views from private decks or patios. The Sanctuary Beach Resort serves as a secluded coastal getaway that offers unmatched access to California's stunning Central Coast region. It welcomes both coastal road trippers and single-destination vacationers seeking relaxation in a tranquil setting. With top-of-the-line meeting and event spaces overlooking the water, The Sanctuary is also an ideal location for business retreats, weddings, and other special celebrations.
The Sanctuary Beach Resort is part of the Echelon Luxury & Lifestyle division, a prestigious segment of HHM Hotels, which is committed to delivering upscale hospitality experiences. HHM Hotels fosters an inclusive and diverse working environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer, supporting fair treatment regardless of race, color, gender identity, sexual orientation, or other protected characteristics.
The role of Property People Support Manager at The Sanctuary Beach Resort is a vital position responsible for overseeing human resource functions that directly impact the hotel's staff and operations. This role entails managing employee recruitment, training and development initiatives, benefit administration, and employee relations to ensure a productive, motivated, and compliant workforce. The Property People Support Manager collaborates closely with hotel managers to hire, train, schedule, coach, and support associates so that they perform consistently with brand standards and HHM's core values.
This position requires managing talent acquisition activities, including job postings, sourcing qualified candidates, interviewing, and selecting the best fits for the roles. The incumbent will coordinate with centralized People Support functional teams to ensure that benefits, compensation, leaves of absence, training programs, and employee relations initiatives are communicated effectively and administered at the property level. Responsibilities extend to managing new hire onboarding and termination processes in compliance with relevant local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
A key part of the Property People Support Manager's role is fostering a positive work culture that emphasizes fairness and supports employee concerns in an unbiased manner. The position also involves developing and implementing training programs tailored to meet brand standards and organizational needs. Additionally, the manager plays a pivotal part in nurturing a workplace environment that recognizes good performance, celebrates workforce diversity, and adheres to sustainability practices in line with HHM's EarthView program.
Operational duties further include assisting with HRIS and payroll systems to guarantee accurate and timely payroll processing for all employees, including hourly, salaried, and tipped staff. This role demands strict adherence to labor laws concerning tip pooling, overtime calculation, and meal/rest break compliance. The Property People Support Manager works continuously to promote safe work habits per OSHA and MSDS standards and embraces a dynamic work schedule that may involve holidays and weekends.
The position offers a clear career path, with opportunities for advancement to roles such as People Support Director, Regional Director of People Support, and eventually, Corporate People Support Director. This growth trajectory supports long-term career development in the hospitality human resource field. Overall, this role is essential in maintaining the high standards of human resource management at The Sanctuary Beach Resort, driving employee satisfaction, operational excellence, and brand integrity within this luxurious coastal setting.
