This elegant resort offers a comprehensive hospitality experience that combines sophisticated amenities with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. As part of the Pacific Hospitality Group family, the resort benefits from a unique owner/operator approach that prioritizes long-term value creation, sustainable growth, and a deep commitment to enriching the lives of guests, team members, and communities alike. With a focus on delivering memorable experiences, The Meritage Resort & Spa has established itself as a leader in the hospitality industry, attracting visitors from around the globe who seek both relaxation and refinement.
Pacific Hospitality Group is a values-driven organization that places significant emphasis on integrity, compliance, customer focus, and principled entrepreneurship. Their family-oriented corporate culture supports employee growth and development, reflecting their commitment to honoring God in all they do while maintaining a strong connection to social responsibility and community engagement. This ethos permeates every aspect of The Meritage Resort & Spa, making it not only a desirable place to visit but also an inspiring workplace for hospitality professionals.
The People & Culture Manager position at The Meritage Resort & Spa is a pivotal leadership role that requires a dynamic individual to foster a high-performance, engaged, and inclusive work environment for a sizable team of approximately 550 employees. This full-time role, with a competitive salary range of $75,000 to $85,000, is integral to partnering closely with operational leaders to promote the resort's culture and uphold its service standards. The ideal candidate will be passionate about people-first leadership, skilled in talent development, and adept at navigating compliance issues within a complex labor environment specific to California.
In this role, the People & Culture Manager will champion a positive workplace culture that embodies the core values of the resort, focusing on inclusivity and exceptional service. Responsibilities include leading engagement initiatives such as surveys and recognition programs, managing employee relations with fairness and consistency, and supporting workforce planning and recruiting efforts designed to attract and retain top talent. Additionally, the manager will oversee training programs targeting leadership growth and skill development, ensuring succession planning aligns with the resort’s long-term objectives.
The person in this position must maintain strict compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local labor laws and oversee HR operations, including payroll support, benefits administration, and HR information systems management. Safety and wellbeing initiatives are also key components, with the manager playing a proactive role in promoting risk management and workers' compensation processes while championing team member wellness.
By acting as a trusted advisor to department leaders, the People & Culture Manager will leverage HR metrics and workforce insights to inform strategic decisions and support continuous improvement efforts throughout the organization. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the employee experience in a vibrant, guest-focused resort environment, requiring a person who is adaptable, communicative, and deeply committed to fostering teamwork and respect among a diverse workforce. The Meritage Resort & Spa values a culture defined by integrity, respect, and fulfillment, promising an enriching career for anyone ready to contribute to their meaningful mission and growth trajectory.
