Job Description
Pei Wei is a dynamic and fast-growing Asian-inspired restaurant chain known for delivering fresh, flavorful, and distinctive dishes in a casual dining setting. Established with a commitment to quality and fast service, Pei Wei has carved out a unique niche in the quick-casual dining market by combining bold Asian flavors with a customer-centric approach. With a focus on fresh ingredients, innovative recipes, and inviting restaurant environments, Pei Wei aims to provide a satisfying dining experience that appeals to a diverse range of customers. The company encourages a collaborative work culture where teamwork and leadership are highly valued, and employees are supported to grow and succeed.
The Shift Leader role at Pei Wei is a pivotal position within the restaurant team, directly assisting management and playing a critical role in the overall success and operational efficiency of the restaurant. Shift Leaders are responsible for guiding and training team members, ensuring that all aspects of the restaurant function seamlessly during their shifts. This position demands versatility, as the Shift Leader is expected to manage both front-of-the-house and kitchen operations, providing hands-on support wherever needed. Strong leadership skills and the ability to take charge in the absence of management make this role essential for maintaining high standards of service and operational excellence.
Shift Leaders at Pei Wei are certified in both culinary and front-of-house operations, enabling them to coach and verify daily tasks effectively. Additionally, they hold a certified food handler status and uphold company safety and health procedures diligently. Strong communication skills are vital as they interact with team members, management, and regional supervisors through verbal and written channels. Shift Leaders serve as role models in professional behavior, appearance, and guest interaction, setting the tone for team conduct and customer service standards.
This role also involves administrative responsibilities such as scheduling, reporting, handling cash and inventory, and ensuring compliance with shift checklists. Shift Leaders support new employee onboarding and training, fostering a positive and productive work environment. A key part of their duties includes managing guest relations, coaching the team on customer service excellence, and escalating any employee-related concerns to general management promptly. Attendance at all store manager meetings is expected to stay aligned with company goals and updates.
Working at Pei Wei requires physical stamina and the ability to meet the demands of a fast-paced restaurant environment. Shift Leaders must be capable of standing and walking for extended periods, handling physical tasks like lifting up to 30 pounds, and maintaining sensory acuity for hearing and vision standards. The company values candidates who are action-oriented, customer-focused, and self-motivated, thriving in a team-centered atmosphere committed to continuous improvement and guest satisfaction.
Overall, this position provides an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to develop their leadership capabilities in the restaurant industry, offering a supportive environment where they can impact both team success and customer experience significantly. The employment type is typically full-time or part-time shifts, with compensation aligned to industry standards and dependent on experience and location.
