Job Description

Pei Wei Asian Kitchen is a fast-casual restaurant chain that specializes in fresh, made-to-order Asian cuisine. Known for its inviting atmosphere and commitment to quality, Pei Wei offers a diverse menu inspired by traditional Asian flavors with a modern twist. The company prides itself on delivering excellent customer service and maintaining high operational standards. Pei Wei has grown steadily, building a reputation for fresh ingredients and flavorful dishes served in a convenient, approachable setting. The chain emphasizes teamwork, training, and leadership development to create a positive work environment and ensure guest satisfaction.

The role of a Shift Leader at Pei Wei is pivotal for the successful operation of their restaurants. Shift Leaders work closely with Management teams to ensure smooth day-to-day restaurant activities. They play a critical role in guiding and training team members, fostering an environment of collaboration and excellence. Successful Shift Leaders demonstrate proficiency across all restaurant functions, from guest service to kitchen operations. This role requires comfort with back-office systems, including scheduling, reporting, cash handling, and inventory management. Shift Leaders are expected to step into the lead role in the absence of Managers, commanding respect and motivating the team to perform at their best.

Shift Leaders at Pei Wei are certified and trained in both Culinary and Front-of-the-House operations. They ensure that food safety standards are followed, lead the team effectively through coaching and delegation, and uphold the brand’s standards of behavior and guest interaction. Communication is essential, whether it’s with Team Members, Management, or Regional Support Offices. Shift Leaders manage administrative duties such as scheduling, reporting, cash control, and inventory, ensuring that these tasks are completed accurately and efficiently. They are also involved in the onboarding and training of new employees, supporting ongoing team development to improve overall restaurant performance.

In addition to operational responsibilities, Shift Leaders handle guest relations and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction. They coach their teams to deliver excellent service and handle any guest issues promptly and professionally. Employee relations concerns are escalated swiftly to the General Manager to maintain a positive and productive workplace. Participation in store manager meetings and other assigned duties rounds out the role, making it a comprehensive leadership position that balances people management, operational excellence, and guest focus. This position is ideal for motivated individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments and are looking to develop their leadership skills within the hospitality industry at Pei Wei.
