Job Description
Pei Wei is a dynamic and growing Asian restaurant chain known for delivering fresh and flavorful Asian-inspired dishes in a fast-casual setting. Established to offer guests a unique dining experience that combines traditional Asian flavors with modern culinary techniques, Pei Wei prides itself on its commitment to quality, customer service, and innovation. The brand has built a reputation for its fresh ingredients, made-to-order meals, and approachable atmosphere that appeals to a broad range of customers. Pei Wei is part of the restaurant industry, specifically focusing on fast-casual dining, where efficiency and guest satisfaction are paramount.
The Shift Leader role at Pei Wei is a pivotal position responsible for supporting the management team and ensuring the smooth operation of the restaurant during their shifts. Shift Leaders play an essential role in training team members, overseeing front-of-house and kitchen operations, and maintaining high standards for food safety, customer service, and operational excellence. This role demands a strong ability to multitask across various functions of the restaurant, including guest interactions, staff coaching, cash handling, and administrative duties.
Shift Leaders are expected to be role models for behavior and professionalism, exhibiting Pei Wei's standards in dress, conduct, and guest engagement. They lead the team by delegating tasks, verifying work quality, and ensuring that all company policies and procedures are followed. Besides their on-the-floor responsibilities, Shift Leaders must be proficient in using back-office systems relevant to scheduling, reporting, inventory, and cash management.
This position requires the ability to step up and take full responsibility in the absence of the restaurant's management, making leadership skills and customer focus crucial to success. Certified training in culinary and front-of-house operations is mandatory, highlighting the importance of comprehensive knowledge in both kitchen and service areas. Effective communication is key, as Shift Leaders collaborate with team members, store managers, and regional support offices to maintain performance and address challenges promptly.
The work environment is fast-paced and physically demanding, where Shift Leaders must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, lift items up to 30 pounds, and maintain sharp attention and sensory awareness for safety and quality assurance. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals who are action-oriented, customer-focused, and eager to grow within the vibrant restaurant industry. Those passionate about developing team success and improving overall guest experience will find this role fulfilling and impactful.
