The role being offered is that of a Prep or Line Cook, an essential position within the kitchen team. This position involves preparing and executing food orders according to specific recipes and procedures while maintaining strict safety and sanitation standards. The ideal candidate will work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and contributing to the seamless operation of daily kitchen functions. The cook will be responsible for stocking and organizing supplies, handling kitchen equipment, and ensuring that meals are presented to guests in line with company expectations.

Beyond just food preparation, this role demands a comprehensive understanding of menu items, including the ability to guide guests in selecting dishes that meet their taste preferences and dietary needs, such as modifying dishes to accommodate allergies or gluten-free requirements. The position also interacts with technology through the operation of the Point of Sale (POS) system, reinforcing the integration of front-end service skills with culinary expertise. Safety is a top priority, and candidates must possess a current Food Handler's Card where applicable, as well as demonstrate knowledge of proper chemical handling procedures. Working conditions require stamina and physical capability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive actions such as lifting and balancing objects up to 30 lbs.

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to stand and walk for periods of four to ten hours in length each shift
  • must be able to reach, bend, balance and transport various objects weighing up to 30 lbs repeatedly during a shift
  • must be able to hear with 100 percent accuracy with correction
  • must be able to see at 20/20 vision with correction

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of cooking and knife handling skills
  • high school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • previous prep or line cook experience
  • ability to prepare and present menu items with cook time requirements
  • understand how to modify dishes due to guest requests such as allergies or gluten free
  • reading, writing, and math skills required
  • must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively to employees and management
  • understanding of English language
  • ability to work in a team environment
  • ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cooks all food menu items to company specifications
  • stock pantry station fully before the shift
  • setup, operation, breakdown, and cleaning of all kitchen equipment
  • knowledge of proper handling of all chemicals used in the building
  • consistently use all prep tools and equipment according to safety guidelines
  • operate the POS system
  • learn restaurant menu and recipes and guide guests on choosing menu items between spicy and mild dishes, with ability to modify according to guest need
