The Prep Cook will oversee the setup, operation, breakdown, and cleaning of kitchen equipment and use proper sanitation practices at all times. A key part of this role is the ability to operate the POS system and assist guests by guiding their menu choices, accommodating needs such as spice preferences and dietary restrictions including allergies and gluten-free options.
This role demands knowledge of proper chemical handling within the building and adherence to all safety protocols. The Prep Cook will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness throughout kitchen stations and restaurant areas, including washing dishes, sweeping and mopping floors, and sanitizing utensils and equipment. The work environment includes exposure to varying temperatures, often warm to extremely warm conditions typical of busy commercial kitchens.
Candidates for this position are expected to have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, possess food handler certification where applicable, and have relevant experience either as a prep cook or line cook. Reading, writing, and communication skills are essential to interact effectively with employees, management, and guests. The ideal candidate should be able to multitask in a fast-paced team environment, show initiative through problem-solving abilities, and maintain a commitment to high-quality service.
