This job opportunity is with a reputable food service establishment located in Oklahoma City and Norman, specializing in the preparation, production, and serving of quality food items. The company operates primarily in the clerical and service/maintenance sectors, with an emphasis on maintaining a smooth and efficient food service operation. The position available is a first-line supervisory role, which offers a targeted hourly wage of $16.00 based on experience. This employment is classified as temporary and is scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Although this is a temporary role, it provides excellent experience and skill development in food service management and operations, without eligibility for benefits.

The role of the first-line supervisor is pivotal to the daily operations of the food service area. It involves coordinating food preparation and service, ensuring strict compliance with health and safety regulations, managing inventory and procurement, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization. The supervisor oversees the entire process from food preparation to customer service, including supervising staff to ensure that they meet quality standards and portion sizes. In addition, the supervisor handles cash register operations, prepares daily cash reports, and responds to customer inquiries and complaints, ensuring an exceptional dining experience for all clientele.

This position requires the preparation and maintenance of various reports related to food operation, sanitation, and customer service issues, essential for management oversight and regulatory compliance. Attention to detail is critical, as the supervisor must maintain accurate operational and compliance records. Additionally, the supervisor may be responsible for opening and securing the facility and possibly covering a second shift. Attendance at meetings, training sessions, and continuous education classes is also an integral part of this position to keep up with industry standards and improvements. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or graduate of culinary school
  • 36 months experience in food services including 12 months supervisory experience
  • Advanced knowledge of customer and personal service
  • Advanced knowledge of state food handling and cleanliness laws
  • Advanced knowledge of kitchen equipment and supplies
  • Working knowledge of profit and loss statements
  • Excellent verbal, listening, and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to plan health-conscious menus
  • Ability to interpret information
  • Ability to speak, read, and write clear, concise English
  • Detail oriented for data accuracy
  • Ability to communicate and build rapport with students, faculty, and staff
  • Ability to supervise staff and communicate directions and expectations
  • Cash handling experience
  • ServSafe certification
  • Sanitation certification may be required upon employment
  • Willingness to undergo background check

Job Duties

  • Coordinate food preparation and serving of food
  • Monitor food preparation methods, portion sizes, and presentation of food
  • Oversee inventory and procurement to ensure adequate supplies and equipment
  • Monitor safety and cleanliness of facility and equipment adhering to standards
  • Assist with preparation of master menus
  • Oversee cash register operations and prepare daily cash report
  • Respond to customer inquiries and resolve complaints
  • Prepare reports on facility operation, sanitation, food preparation, and complaints
  • Maintain regulatory, compliance, and operational records
  • Open and secure facility
  • Assume responsibility for a second shift if needed
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and work-related classes
  • Perform various duties to successfully fulfill position functions
