The position of Per Diem Food Service Worker is available at Jersey City Medical Center, one of the facilities under RWJBarnabas Health. Located at 355 Grand Street, Jersey City, NJ, this role is integral to the Dietary-Management department. The role operates on a per diem basis with a day shift schedule, and the hourly pay rate is $19.89. This position involves a range of routine tasks within food service areas, focused on preparing equipment and foods according to standard practices and regulatory requirements. Reporting to a Department of Food and Nutrition Services Supervisor or Manager, the Food Service Worker is responsible for ensuring food service operations run smoothly and that customer satisfaction is consistently met.

The Food Service Worker assists in meal service across the cafeteria and patient care units, including hot and cold food portioning and tray setup. The role also involves collecting and processing trash, cleaning work areas and equipment, and delivering meals to patient units while assisting patients as needed. Additionally, this position handles tasks such as operating the cash register, performing reconciliations, and maintaining cleanliness and order in dining and food preparation areas. The worker is expected to comply with established policies, follow oral and written instructions accurately, and participate actively in departmental cleaning schedules.
