The role currently available at PCH Torrance Tokyo Central is for team members who are passionate about Japanese food and culture, and who are enthusiastic about contributing to a friendly and efficient workplace. This position mainly involves responsibilities in the Customer Service Department as a Cashier Associate, with duties that include interacting directly with customers, operating POS systems, handling cash transactions, and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the service areas. The successful candidates will demonstrate strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work well under pressure while staying busy. Flexibility is also required as team members may be asked to assist in other departments and work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Job Requirements
- Able to deliver friendly courteous prompt customer service
- Able to read write and do simple math problems
- Able to interpret understand and follow instructions
- Ability to effectively communicate and respond to questions from the general public and management
- Ability to interact with all levels of management
- Must be able to work some nights
- Must be able to work at least one weekend date Saturday or Sunday
- Possess a food handling license or the ability to acquire one
- Other job related tasks which are assigned by the supervisor and or manager
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- Minimum of 1-2 years of work experience in a similar work environment preferred
- Previous experience as a retail associate cashier or grocery clerk preferred
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds without aid
- Must be 18 or older to use sharp knives use ladders scaffolds or substitutes above 6 feet in height and to operate or assist in operating power-driven machinery or equipment
- Must be able to use job related equipment such as a stepping ladder and dollies
Job Duties
- Providing premier customer service including greeting customers and responding to questions
- Responding quickly and friendlily to customer inquiries and complaints
- Bagging merchandise neatly efficiently and quickly
- Assisting in returning shopping carts and baskets to designated areas
- Reporting irregular issues and problems to the Store Manager
- Opening and closing assigned cash registers according to protocol
- Counting opening and closing cash and other transactions for assigned register
- Scanning merchandise purchased accurately and quickly
- Checking IDs for tobacco and alcohol transactions
- Processing purchases quickly and efficiently
- Processing returns and credits customers utilizing the Company’s return policy procedures
- Conducting transactions professionally
- Working various shifts days or nights as assigned by Store Manager
- Organizing and stocking Customer Service display areas per store layouts planograms and standards
- Setting up and maintaining condition and cleanliness of the Customer Service Section according to company standards
- Proactively supporting any promotional activity within the store
- Ensuring that all Customer Service products are in their right place
