Employees enjoy a culture that values teamwork, professionalism, and patient satisfaction.
This full-time position is for a medical secretary who will serve as a vital part of the Patient Services team, functioning as a float between the Waterbury and Southbury offices, with occasional travel to Orange and Branford locations as needed. The role offers a competitive salary ranging from $19.00 to $23.00 per hour, plus a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, and life insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, disability insurance, and referral programs.
The ideal candidate is someone hardworking and a team player, skilled at multitasking within a high-volume medical practice environment. The role requires a friendly personality with excellent customer service skills and a working knowledge of electronic health records (EHR), various insurance, vision, and managed care plans. The candidate will be experienced in patient check-in and check-out processes, managing a busy surgeon’s schedule, handling front desk responsibilities including collecting copays and outstanding balances, and assisting the call center. Fluency in Spanish is helpful but not mandatory.
The medical secretary must be comfortable wearing many hats as the position involves managing physician appointment calendars, ensuring efficient patient flow, facilitating communication between patients and doctors, and assisting both front desk and call center operations. The candidate must be patient-focused, detail-oriented, and demonstrate a professional demeanor to maintain high patient satisfaction levels. Excellent keyboard skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment are essential.
Work hours include a standard 37.5-hour week, Monday through Friday, with occasional late nights until 6 or 7 PM and some Saturday shifts. Time worked on Saturdays is either exchanged for time off or compensated as overtime. The employer provides paid, hands-on onsite training and reimburses mileage for authorized travel after 90 days. There is also a scrub stipend and paid time off provided after the initial probationary period. This practice strictly follows COVID-19 guidelines per the CDC and requires all employees to be vaccinated or willing to receive the vaccine prior to starting employment.
