The Patient Services Representative role at Optum offers an excellent opportunity to be part of a professional team in a collaborative office environment. This full-time position is located at 680 Buckles Court N., Gahanna, OH, offering a Monday to Friday schedule from 8 am to 5 pm, totaling 40 hours per week. The hourly pay ranges from $16.15 to $28.80, based on factors such as local labor market conditions, education, experience, and certifications.

In this role, you will serve as an essential touchpoint for patients, assisting with their intake process and providing excellent customer service in a busy healthcare office. Responsibilities include greeting patients, managing wait times, processing co-payments and other payments, scheduling and rescheduling appointments, and handling medical records management tasks such as filing, scanning, and preparing documents. The Patient Services Representative ensures smooth workflow by processing walk-in patients, managing receipts, maintaining accurate logs for medical record releases, and supporting other related duties as assigned. Working closely with medical professionals and administrators, you will help maintain an efficient and welcoming environment that promotes positive patient experiences and supports health outcomes.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1+ years of administrative experience in a healthcare setting

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1+ years working in a medical front office position performing duties such as scheduling appointments, checking patients in/out, insurance verification, collecting co-pays and maintaining medical records
  • experience working with medical insurance
  • advanced level of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • knowledge of EPIC software
  • knowledge of medical terminology

Job Duties

  • Greet patients as they arrive and manage wait time
  • assist patients with intake processes including copying required documents
  • collect co-payments, co-insurance and deductibles and issue receipts
  • manage cashier box and daily deposits according to company policies
  • process walk-in patients and visitors
  • schedule and reschedule appointments
  • manage medical records including maintaining, filing/scanning, and preparing for schedule
  • ensure all correspondence is scanned and/or filed in timely manner
  • process requests for medical records release and maintain appropriate logs
  • perform all other related duties as assigned
