Located at 1906 Belleview Ave SE in Roanoke, the facility seeks a dedicated Food Services Supervisor to lead its Dining and Nutrition Services team. This full-time, day-shift position involves overseeing retail and dining service operations that cater to patients and visitors alike. The Food Services Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring an efficient, high-quality food service environment within the healthcare setting, contributing significantly to the overall patient and visitor experience.
The Food Services Supervisor is responsible for managing daily dining services, monitoring patient delivery operations, and collaborating with leadership to address service-related issues. This role requires strong leadership skills to supervise staff, manage schedules, adjust staffing levels, and ensure that all customer and quality standards are met. The supervisor will also play an active role in hiring, orienting, and training new employees, fostering professional development, and conducting performance evaluations to maintain a motivated and effective team.
A key component of the role includes enforcing hospital policies and compliance with health and safety standards such as those mandated by JCAHO and OSHA. The supervisor will assist in budget preparation, produce operational reports for leadership, and ensure production goals and quality control measures align with organizational standards. Effective communication with vendors and conflict resolution with customers is essential to maintaining smooth service delivery.
This position requires someone with at least two years of supervisory experience in a high-volume food production system and SERV-Safe Certification or equivalent from the Virginia Health Department. Strong communication and supervisory skills are crucial, along with a genuine interest in staff development and the ability to provide technical assistance when necessary.

Job Duties
- Supervises and monitors daily dining service and patient delivery service
- Consults with the leadership team on service issues and keeps them informed of related activities, needs and problems
- Advises leadership of process improvements
- Manages employees' schedules, monitors and adjusts staffing levels and hires contingent employees as necessary
- Interviews, selects and orients new employees, ensures all required new hire paperwork is completed
- Trains, coaches, evaluates and reviews performance, encourages professional development
- Provides and participates in department in-services
- Provides technical assistance to employees to assure that service and quality standards are met
- Administers hospital and departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control
- Assists leadership with annual budget preparation
- Prepares operations reports for leadership and other reporting as required
- Receives and reviews job orders, prioritizes, informs management of production status and ensures production deadlines are met
- Establishes production goals, objectives and quality control standards
- Ensures compliance with Carilion policies, procedures and all regulatory guidelines including JCAHO and OSHA
- Provides conflict resolution with internal and external customers
- Provides excellent services to patients and customers
- Communicates with vendors as necessary
