Job Requirements

  • High school degree required
  • Two years of supervisory experience in high volume food production system
  • SERV-Safe Certification or equivalent certification from the Virginia Health Department
  • Good communication skills
  • Good supervisory skills to provide technical assistance as needed
  • General interest in staff development

Job Duties

  • Supervises and monitors daily dining service and patient delivery service
  • Consults with the leadership team on service issues and keeps them informed of related activities, needs and problems
  • Advises leadership of process improvements
  • Manages employees' schedules, monitors and adjusts staffing levels and hires contingent employees as necessary
  • Interviews, selects and orients new employees, ensures all required new hire paperwork is completed
  • Trains, coaches, evaluates and reviews performance, encourages professional development
  • Provides and participates in department in-services
  • Provides technical assistance to employees to assure that service and quality standards are met
  • Administers hospital and departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control
  • Assists leadership with annual budget preparation
  • Prepares operations reports for leadership and other reporting as required
  • Receives and reviews job orders, prioritizes, informs management of production status and ensures production deadlines are met
  • Establishes production goals, objectives and quality control standards
  • Ensures compliance with Carilion policies, procedures and all regulatory guidelines including JCAHO and OSHA
  • Provides conflict resolution with internal and external customers
  • Provides excellent services to patients and customers
  • Communicates with vendors as necessary
