Job Description
Salud Para La Gente (SALUD) is a well-established and respected community health organization dedicated to providing high quality, comprehensive, and affordable healthcare services to underserved low-income populations in the Monterey Bay area, including Santa Cruz County and North Monterey County. Since its inception in 1978 as a storefront free clinic in Watsonville, SALUD has grown dramatically, becoming a federally qualified community health center (FQHC) in 1992. Today, SALUD operates a network of 11 clinic sites staffed by over 400 employees, serving patients of all ages with a variety of primary healthcare needs.
SALUD's commitment to health equity, compassionate care, and community well-being remains the cornerstone of its mission. The organization's mission is to provide accessible and culturally competent healthcare services that address not only the physical health but also the social determinants of health affecting the diverse populations they serve. The agency fosters a collaborative workplace culture that values excellence, innovation, achievement, and compassion among its staff.
We are currently seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Patient Service Representative (PSR) to join our team in a full-time capacity. The PSR plays a pivotal role in ensuring that patients experience a high standard of service from the very first point of contact. This role involves independently coordinating patient services and managing front office functions within a community clinic environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for interviewing patients to collect and verify pertinent information required for thorough registration in medical and dental records, demonstrating knowledge of various funding sources and insurance plans.
The Patient Service Representative will work closely with Lead Medical and Lead Dental Assistants to effectively coordinate patient flow, promote clear and respectful communication, provide orientation to clinic policies, and handle administrative tasks such as chart filing and managing patient accounts. This position requires an individual who is proficient in computer medical entry systems, bilingual in Spanish and English, and capable of managing patient interactions with sensitivity and professionalism.
SALUD offers a competitive salary range from $21.00 to $24.14 per hour, along with a comprehensive benefits package for employees working 24 or more hours per week. These benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans, paid time off, paid holidays, 401(k) retirement plans with employer contributions, and voluntary long-term disability. Additionally, the organization supports a positive work environment that encourages career growth, staff development, and participation in corporate quality improvement initiatives.
This role is ideal for candidates who are passionate about community health and eager to contribute meaningfully to an organization that improves healthcare access for vulnerable populations. By joining SALUD, you become part of a mission-driven team dedicated to making a sustained impact in the lives of many through compassionate and inclusive healthcare services.
