The full-time Patient Service Representative (PSR) role is based at the 120 Spalding Drive, MOB 2 location in Naperville. Offering competitive hourly wages ranging from $18.38 to $26.65 depending on experience and expertise, the position requires a 40-hour work week with specific weekday hours: Monday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This role does not require travel.
As a Patient Service Representative, you will play a vital role in supporting the hospital's revenue cycle by managing patient registrations for inpatient, outpatient, emergency room, immediate care, and same-day surgery patients. Under general supervision and in alignment with established policies and procedures, you will ensure pre-registration, registration, order management, charge capture, cash collection functions, and related medical information systems are handled accurately and efficiently. Your responsibilities include gathering, analyzing, and recording patient demographic, insurance, financial, and clinical information from multiple sources. You will also verify third-party eligibility, apply medical necessity codes, and engage with patients and their families to clarify hospital revenue cycle expectations and facilitate payments. This role is essential in maintaining accurate financial records while delivering excellent customer service to meet patient needs.
The ideal candidate for this position will have a high school diploma or GED, with an associate degree in business administration or management being preferred. You should have at least two years of experience in registration, scheduling, patient accounts, cash collections, or customer service within a healthcare setting. Proficiency in office equipment operation, Microsoft Office Suite, and strong data entry and keyboarding skills are essential. Knowledge of health insurance policies, medical terminology, and anatomy will assist you in performing your duties effectively. Bilingual skills are a plus, as they enhance communication with a diverse patient population. If selected for off-site duties, a valid driver's license and proof of automobile liability coverage will be required.
